How Do We Grow Close To Jesus?!
He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.”
(Mk. 16:15) NDC 15
Dear Parents,
I am writing to welcome your family to the Fifth Grade class at St. Peter Youth Faith Formation! I feel privileged to be working with your child throughout the coming school year.
This is an exciting school year for each of the children in our class. They will be learning very important aspects of our Catholic Faith: Prayer, Sacraments, the Mass parts, Nicene Creed and a list of other wonderful aspects of our Faith. I am excited to be a partner with you in such an important and humbling endeavor!
It is my goal to present lessons in an engaging and memorable way. I plan to actively involve the students through stories, drama, games, teamwork and other activities that our textbook series, “Alive in Christ” offers.
We will do this as safely as possible, with physical distancing and following all guidelines.
I will also send homework and spiritual exercises home to be completed.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me: 985-630-2898.
I am grateful for this opportunity to evangelize and I look forward to working with you and your child.
Sincerely In Christ,
Mrs. Charlotte King
Homework Assignment
1. Memorize your "Act of Contrition" prayer. Page 323, in your Alive in Christ textbook
Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. Into thing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do Penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy.
2. Grab your supply bag, and get ready to make a craft!
Your supply bag should contain a large index card, colored pencils, crayons, glue stick and foam stickers. Please write your last name in big print on the blank side of the large index card enclosed in your supply bag. Then, decorate the card! We are going to use these index cards on our "Sacred Space" table to pray for each student's family and their intentions during class!
I have included an example for you, from a previous class.
I will punch the holes in the cards later, so don't worry about that. :)
