Dear Robert Hunter families,


We can’t believe it’s already December! One day at a time, working together, we are making it through this challenging year.


Continue to practice safety precautions, including mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. Remember to complete the daily health screener, and do not send children to school if they are showing any possible COVID symptoms. We need to work together to ensure the safety of our community.


Our hybrid students are doing an amazing job learning in the classroom while wearing masks and staying distanced, and our virtual students are rising to the challenge of learning in a completely different way this year. We are so proud of our students, as they continue to grow as learners - not only learning academic skills but learning how to cope with challenges, build resiliency, and they are certainly becoming quite the experts with technology!


It is important that we continue to celebrate milestones and memories this year. This is where we need your help! Our wonderful PTO yearbook committee will be putting together a yearbook with pictures from this year - this is not an easy task! Please send any pictures of your children to homeroom parents or you can contact the yearbook committee at roberthunteryb@gmail.com. Right now, the committee is looking for Back to School, Halloween, Walkathon, Pajama Day, or any other beginning of the school year photos! Let’s work together to create a special yearbook for our children!

Quarantine

If you have a concern about your child coming to school, please reach out to our school nurse, Mrs. Cunniff, to determine if there is medical need to quarantine or just for guidance. You may reach Mrs. Cunniff at scunniff@frsd.k12.nj.us.


Please understand, without a confirmed medical need, we are not able to accommodate short term requests from hybrid into virtual. Only students who have a medical need to quarantine will receive a short-term instructional plan to access instruction remotely.

Class Celebrations

We want to thank all of our homeroom parents who have helped to coordinate class celebrations and have been creative in working through the challenges of this year to help provide special experiences for our students. We encourage homeroom parents to reach out to classroom teachers regarding upcoming winter celebrations. If you would like to plan activities involving materials, they may be dropped off at school at least two days prior to the activity. Please alert the office if they need to be included for virtual pick-up.

Service Corp

We are very excited that our new 4th grade service corp program has begun! Thank you to our school counselor, Mrs. Fontanez, for facilitating this leadership program for our 4th grade students. We have various student committees who share the goal of promoting a positive and connected community. Our service corp students will be planning morning announcements, assemblies, spirit days, and service projects!


One of the student committees is planning socialization activities for Kindergarten students on Friday afternoons. Kindergarten families - please be on the lookout for more information, and we hope you encourage your children to participate!!


4th grade families - please remind your children who are participating in the service corp program to attend their weekly 3:00 Zoom meetings with Mrs. Fontanez. We want to teach our students that school leaders model responsibility - including attending assigned meetings and staying on top of their jobs. Thank you for your support in teaching this message! Holiday Hands-Deadline extended to December 7th!
