Caribou Trails Update

"It's Hot In Here!"
This week while outside for recess I had the great opportunity to talk with many of our students. As I walked around and chatted, students were uniformly upbeat and happy, experiencing the cold and snow with joy and good humor. A group of students, pictured above, walked by toward the end of recess and we were talking about the temperature (9 below zero) and how beautiful the day was. When I asked if they were cold, one responded "It's hot in here!" referring to all of his gear and how warm it kept him in the cold. Also, masks are not required outside but we find they keep the face toasty warm!
As we enter the winter months, let's keep in mind these happy students playing in the sunshine. As they did, take the time to prepare for the conditions and keep a happy attitude. Take time to appreciate the sunshine and daylight when you can and look for the positive in every situation. And mostly, take time to be joyful with friends and family.
This time of year can be very busy, so we hope you are able to save the date for our Band and Orchestra Winter Concerts on December 14. More information will be coming out from Mrs. Brazier with details of the performances. There will be two concerts, one at 12:45 and one at 1:15, so that you can plan ahead.
The second quarter ungraded Encores will end on December 2, so that students and teachers have more time for end of the quarter catch-up and merry-making with their classes. Band, Orchestra, ELL, ELP and Reading and Math Lab classes will continue as normal. We will be getting information about third quarter Encores out before Christmas and Encores will start back up in mid-January.
Our standardized assessment, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), will take place in January as well, after students have settled back in from winter break. Now is a great time of year to snuggle in and read some books together as a family, have older children read aloud to siblings, and, of course, books make excellent gifts! Keep those skills sharp over the breaks!
Have an excellent week and make sure you find the sunshine in each day!
