Take My Survey...Pretty Please...
Hi there and welcome to the first monthly newsletter from the library. I hope this newsletter gives you lots of helpful information and maybe even a chuckle or two here and there. Since I'm new this year (and this is my first "real" library!), I'd love some feedback from you about what are the most important services from the library. Please click the link below to take my survey...don't let your voice not be heard!

And, then there's me. I'm here all day!
For the most exciting news of the week...Your New Webmaster is...wait for it...Laurie Russell Pickert! Thanks, Laurie, for keeping our families and community up-to-date with what's happening at EW
Emailing Students..
I've been really digging the idea that I can email students about their assignments and that they can communicate with me that way. Liz C. came up against a big problem when most of her student emails bounced back to her. What's up with that? Well, it turns out, we cannot Bcc (blind copy) students. So, only put students in the "to" section of your emails.
Student Passwords...are frustrating, but should be all changed!
So..what a fiasco student password changes were this fall. BUT, we think they've all been changed. Some students are still struggling with typos both in their email address and their passwords - so please check that. We've also been the only school to experience some issues with Google syncing. About 20-30 students (so far!) have not had Google sync with their Novell password. Basically, they can log into a computer, but not their gmail. The HelpDesk folks are ready and able to put the password into Google for us. You can send kids up to the library, as well, to deal with this issue.
We have like, a million, book carts. Need one? Send me an email.
Dictionaries...who wants one?
So, I'll admit it: I've not used a dictionary in a long time. I just use the Internet. But...our library has well over a 100 dictionaries. We'd like to keep a few, but are happy to farm out the rest to classrooms. I've chatted with the ELA teachers already, but would anyone else like one (or 10) in your classroom? Just let me know...
Windows 7 is coming!
So for all you tech geeks - Windows 7 is coming (for those of you who don't want to think about it - just skip this section!). The tech department is looking for middle school staff who would like to be guinea pigs for the Win 7 launch for next year. If you'd like to upgrade your DESKTOP's operating system, let me know. I have no idea when it'll all get underway...so don't ask. :)
Tech Thought of the Month (TTM):
There's this awesome new website all about primary source documents. If you're a teacher interested in bringing more primary sources into your curriculum, you should check out the The Digital Public Library of America. It's still a new site, but they are expanding every week with more and great stuff! The timeline feature is truly amazing. Here's the link if you want to check it out:
