Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some information about the people that educate your children on a daily basis. The staff at Grant Community School works extremely hard to bring the highest academic level to our students every day. We collaborate as a team to challenge our students to learn all the essential skills that they will need to be productive and proficient adults.

It is a big job to educate 412 students. However, our teachers, instructional assistants, office staff, custodians, and cafeteria workers are up to the task. The staff of 62 dedicated professionals comes to work with the sole purpose of meeting the needs of our students. The staff at Grant loves what we do and know that we are making a difference in the world.

I consider myself lucky to lead this wonderful group of educators. These professionals do not always get the credit they deserve and thus I want to publicly say “Thank you” to all of them. I encourage you to do the same when you talk with the staff. Believe me, they will appreciate your positive words immensely!

Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para compartir con ustedes información sobre las personas que educan a sus hijos a diario. El personal de Grant Community School trabaja muy duro para brindar el más alto nivel académico a nuestros estudiantes todos los días. Colaboramos como equipo para desafiar a nuestros estudiantes a aprender todas las habilidades esenciales que necesitarán para ser adultos productivos y competentes.

Es un gran trabajo educar a 412 estudiantes. Sin embargo, nuestros maestros, asistentes de instrucción, personal de oficina, conserjes y trabajadores de la cafetería están preparados para la tarea. This month our character trait focus is integrity. Having integrity means doing the right thing, even when it’s hard or when no one is looking. Sometimes kids will only do what they are supposed to when they know their teacher or parents are watching because they don’t want to get in trouble. But true integrity means it is in our hearts to be honest, and to choose what we know in our heart is the right thing to do and abiding by the rules even if no one else will know.

Having integrity shows people what your heart is really like. When you have integrity, people know they can trust you. Trust is so important to uphold and is important for every relationship you will have: at school, at home, and in your community. If you have a friend that you know lies to other people, you will wonder if they lie to you and can’t trust that they are truthful with you. If someone talks about others behind their back, then you can assume they might be talking about you behind your back too. Trust is a hard thing to earn, but the more you can be a person of integrity who does the right thing even when it is hard or no one is watching, you will be able to earn trust and respect from the people around you!

Osos Orgullosos en Abril: Integridad

Este mes nuestra característica del mes es integridad. Una persona quien tiene integridad es una persona que hace lo correcto, incluyendo cuando algo es difícil o nadie está mirando. A veces los niños solo hacen lo que deben hacer cuando saben que los maestros o sus padres estan mirando, porque no quieren meterse en problemas. Pero la integridad verdadera significa que queremos ser honestas/os dentro de nuestros corazones y para decidir hacer lo que sabemos en nuestros corazones que es lo corecto hacer y siguiendo las reglas aunque nadie sabe que lo estamos haciendo.

Cuando temenos integridad los demas se dan cuenta de quienes somos realmente. La integridad demuestra a otros que eres una persona en que pueden confiar. Es muy importante mantener confianza en cada relacion que temenos en nuestras vidas: en la escuela, con tu familia, y en tu comunidad. Si tienes un amigo quien sabes que miente a otros, a lo mejor esta persona también te mentirá a ti y no les tendrás confianza. Si alguien esta chismeando, es posible que esta persona tambien esta chismeando de ti. Ganarse la confianza es difícil y toma tiempo. ¡Lo más que intentes ser una persona con integridad quien hace lo corecto aunque nadie te esta mirando, ganarás la confianza y el respeto de las personas a tu alrededor!
