Mrs. Solomon

Welcome Back Day! Monday, August 9th 4:00-6:00 PM

We are so excited to welcome our Wild Rose Students back to our instructional spaces.

This event allows students and parents to meet teachers, drop off school supplies, visit classrooms, set up desks, and see friends, neighbors and get involved in the school community.

We ask families to come to the back playground area to meet our PTO and get a building map.

At this time we are only allowing students into the building. Students will be required to wear a mask upon entering the building. First grade, second grade and third grade will all enter their classroom spaces from the their exterior classroom door. Fourth and Fifth grade students will be met by their classroom teachers on the blacktop by door 16. Kindergarten students will be met by their teachers in the front of the building at door 23. Many staff will be available to help guide you to where your child or children will be entering.

Parents and families will be able to be on the back playground to learn of Wild Rose Events from the PTO and other community opportunities.

Parking will be challenging please be patient.

Transportation Survey

As we prepare for your students to arrive on Wednesday, it would be very helpful if you could fill out this form regarding your child's dismissal plans. This will help teachers know your child's typical dismissal routine. If there is a change to the dismissal plans, temporarily or permanently, please be sure to notify your child's teacher and the front office.

Notification of Transportation Routes

Transportation route information for elementary school students is now available online. Parents may log in to the VersaTrans e-Link via the included site - http://district.d303.org/bus-route-info-e-link using their Home Access Center (HAC) login credentials. When logging in, please do not check the Authenticate using Network Credentials box.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival and dismissal will work similar to last year with a few changes. Notification of arrival and dismissal will be shared digitally tomorrow afternoon.

Lunch and Snack Information

All grade levels will have lunch at school this year! While eating, students will be seated 6 feet apart. Our cafeteria tables will seat students and some students will be seated at their own individual desk in the lunch room due to the number of students in each grade level.

All K-5 students are eligible for free lunch and breakfast again this year. You can find the daily lunch menu here. If students order a breakfast, they will receive it at the end of the day to take home for the following morning. If students order a juice or a water, their PushCoin account will be charged. Breakfasts and lunches will not be available over the weekends.

All students will have a snack during the day. When possible, snack will take place outside. We ask for your help in sending something healthy, as well as quick and easy for your child to eat. Additionally, please only send water with your child to have in the classroom. I always suggest a water bottle with a straw/flip top as opposed to a screw on lid. A classroom is a busy place and we love to knock over water bottles!

As you may remember, when it was determined we were extending the elementary school day, there was also a "Think Tank" that helped develop the goals and competencies for our new special, Empower. As you viewed your child's schedules, you may have noticed this course listed. Because it is new, we wanted to provide some information on this course that we know students are going to LOVE!

Empower is our new special that K-5 students will experience twice a week. Each experience will focus on building the competencies through play, where students will work in partners, small groups and large groups. Teachers will explicitly focus on the SEL standards and competencies through real world, hands-on learning. Teachers and students will model and role play to solidify their understanding and ability to utilize the competencies such as problem solving, communication, teamwork and conflict resolution. The experiences will involve students using these skills to design, build, imagine, wonder, collaborate and connect. Student choice and reflection are highlighted in these experiences. The experiences are flexible, allowing the teacher to respond to the students needs and interests based on the individuals in their class. The experiences will look different based on the grade level and the interests of the students in a particular group. There are 8 modules in the program, but differ based on the grade level:

  • Make it to the End!--Chain Reactions and Crazy Contraptions
  • Get Out and Play! --Game Play and Design
  • Make it Move! --Coding and Robotics
  • Show it Off! --Drama, Video Production, and Media Tools
  • Light it Up! --Circuits and Electricity
  • Get on Board! --Skill Development Through Game Play
  • Build It! --Creative Construction
  • Make a Difference! --Problem-Based Learning to Help Your School or Community (or entrepreneur experience)

Additionally, here is a parent site to provide insight on each module.
