Summer Office Hours

The school office will be open over the summer. Both Amy and I will be there working an overlapping schedule. My schedule will be Tues-Thurs from 10am-2pm. Amy's schedule will be Wednesday with approximately the same hours.

Closing Chapel/Last Day of School

The faculty and staff decided that we need to make the last day of school a bit more fun. That said, ALL K-8 kids will come to Flatrock as if it were baptismal remembrance chapel. From 7:45-9am kid will have a special breakfast (fruit, muffins, cereal bars and apple juice) and have an opportunity to sign yearbooks etc. Then at 9am we will have our baptismal remembrance and closing chapel. Chapel will end around 10:30 and kids will be dismissed for the summer.

On this day, please also remember to go through the lost and found and take home any medications whether it is cough drops or something else. They will be thrown out otherwise.

New Newsletter Format

The newsletter format we started with this year will be retired at the end of this school year. Next year you will receive the new Wakelet version I have been sending via text. This new format allows me to share more things in a much easier way. I hope many of you like the new format I have been using.

With the new format, you can now "follow" it and receive it automatically when I publish it. All you need to do is go to and click on the "follow" button at the top right under the school banner.

19-20 Lunch Program

We have been fortunate to not have had a lunch price increase since the 16-17 school year. For the 18-19 school year, we were granted an unusual exception due to our lunch account balance. Our lunch balance this year does not afford that same exception for the 19-20 school year. We are, unfortunately, required to raise lunch prices for next year. Please bear in mind that lunch price increases are dictated to us annually. That said, our student lunch price for next year has been set at $2.85.

SGO Applications Can Be Done Online

Beginning now, you do not need to fill out a paper application to apply for an SGO for the 19-20 school year. You can begin doing that anytime now. Click here for the link. You will need to do the following to apply. 1) Create an account. 2) Add your children 3) complete an application.

If you qualify and would like to receive an SGO next year, please click on the link above to fill out the application and send me a copy of your 1040 so I can upload it to the site. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hoagland Days Parade

SJE will have a float in this year's Hoagland Days parade on June 15th. The faculty and staff are working on the planning of it now. If you'd like to help, we would appreciate it. We would also like to see many families walking with us in the parade wearing school shirts/gear. I would really like for us to make a big impact in the parade by being seen and being a large group.

Volunteering at SJE

If you have not yet volunteered this year, the time has run out. We will be creating the volunteer hour applications with your volunteer hours for the year reflected on it. You can also check your hours on Renweb's Parentweb page.

**Please note that your volunteer hours this year (18-19) will reduce or eliminate up to $400 of the tuition increase/student set for the 19-20 school year.***

The Lutheran SGO for SJE

It's that time again to have a conversation about our SGO. We have many families that have filled out applications requesting funds to assist with their school tuition. This is a great way to help them. It allows the donor to donate funds to the SGO and receive a 50% Indiana state tax credit. If your donation is large enough, you can carry it over up to 8 tax years. Our need this year as of now is $19,500.00, of which we already have about $10,000.00. Please consider giving. There are so many ways to do so and more are coming in early 2019. Please visit the website for more info.

Lutheran Night at the TinCaps

This year’s Lutheran Night at the TinCaps will be on Monday, July 22 (7:05 PM). The game will feature post-game fireworks and Family Feast Night (hot dogs, popcorn, pizza slices and small soft drinks are all $1). Ticket prices did increase this year and are now $10

$1 from each ticket goes to the RN scholarship fund at Lutheran Life Villages which provides the opportunity for LLV staff to grow and earn their RN license.

In addition to the traditional order form below, is the ability to purchase tickets online at the following link:
