Mrs. Solis' 3rd Grade Class
December 7 - 11, 2015
What we are learning next week:
Reading: We will continue to work on learning from the lives of others. In this unit, we look at the differences between biographies and autobiographies. This week, we will also start ourinventor/innovator research project in class.
Writing: We continue working on personal information text as we look at fresh words, great endings, mechanics, and avoiding redundant words. This will be a test grade for the nine weeks. Ask your child what personal experience he/she is writing about.
Math: We will be adding to our multiplication strategies this week! The Double-Double-
Double strategy will be studied. We’ll look at the relationship between doubles (x2), double doubles (x4) and the extension into x8. **We’ll spend the end of the week reviewing and getting ready for the upcoming math test on Monday, Dec. 14th.
Social Studies: This week we will be introducing and exploring with different types of
landforms and how they are made. Ask your child about what is a landform.
Science: Students will be exploring with physical and political maps. They will be using cardinal directions as well as a map key, a compass rose, and a map scale. Ask your child about a compass rose.
