EOG Blitz May 9th-May 20th

This week our EOG Blitz plans are still in place. If there have been any changes to the grade level "Blitz" plans please forward the changes to your grade level administrator and myself before the end of Monday.

Proctors Needed for EOG Testing

We are still in need of proctors for EOG testing. Team members who secure a volunteer to proctor for at least 1 full day will be awarded a "comp" day for June 10th if all of their end of year close out responsibilities have been met. Please contact Mr. Bloom with the names and contact information of proctors you have recruited.

Tuesday Memorial for Jabbar Gatewood

On Tuesday from 2:30-3:30 we will have a balloon release and memorial dedication for Jabbar Gatewood. Thank you to Ms. Ratliff for coordinating the memorial and for ensuring that we properly memorialize our fallen scholar. Logistics regarding the times and locations for Tuesday's memorial will be sent out later today.

CMS Employee Engagement Survey

On Monday, May 9, all CMS employees should have received an electronic invitation to participate in the annual CMS Employee Engagement Survey, administered by our consulting partner K12 Insight. The engagement survey, which differs from the Instructional Culture Insight Survey, will be open until Friday, May 27. Some employees may not feel comfortable completing the survey online. All schools have been asked to provide a paper copy of the survey for any employee who requests one. Printable surveys in English and Spanish are available. Completed paper surveys should be placed in a sealed envelope and sent to Alice Rothrock at Courier #836 by May 27.

EVASS Teacher Verification Phase April 23-May 20

Team if you have not verified your class rosters please do so before Friday, May 20th.
1. Teachers should review all Roster Verification materials located on the EVAAS website
2. Teachers should add and remove rosters and students, as necessary.
3. Teachers should claim proportion of instructional responsibility for each student.
4. Teachers should submit rosters to School Admin. by 4:00pm on May 20, 2016

Extended Day Tutoring

This upcoming Saturday, May 21st is the last day of extended-day tutoring. Please encourage scholars who need assistance with math or reading to attend Saturday's tutoring session. Every little bit of support makes a difference!

SMS Spring Career Fair Friday, May 13th A Huge Success!!

A special thank you to Mr. Robinson, Ms. Grier, Ms. Eldridge and to everyone who helped to make Friday's career fair a huge success. We had over 20 careers represented at Friday's fair.

Congratulations to the Cast & Crew of Annie Junior

A special thanks to Ms. Martinez and the cast and crew of Annie Junior. On Friday and Saturday of last week the scholars in our theater department presented 3 shows to scholars, teachers and family members. It was an amazing performance and a great experience for our Sedgefield family.

This past Saturday Ms. Kimpson and our band program performed at the annual Sedgefest Neighborhood festival. Thank you to Ms. Kimpson and to the band scholars who performed on Saturday. You did a wonderful job!!

Spring Dance Recital

Ms. Poke and the talented scholars in our dance program will hold their spring dance recital on May 24th at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm. Please come out for a night of fun and culture on Tuesday the 24th.

In today's PD Corner we have another great video from The Teaching Channel. This week's video discusses "What's in a Name". Also included in the PD corner is The Marshall Memo. The Marshall Memo is a weekly summary and synopsis of education related articles from our country's top educational magazines, chronicles and journals. Sports Banquet Monday night at Avondale Church

Last week we wrapped up our Spring sports season. Through out the year our athletic teams have done a tremendous job of demonstrating sportsmanship, character and athletic excellence. Thank you to all of our coaches, parents and volunteers who have made this year such a success. Tonight we will have our annual sports banquet at Avondale Presbyterian Church starting at 6:00pm.
