RECOGNITION WEEK

As you know, this past week has been a week of recognition in the field of education. May 1st was School Principals' Day. This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3rd Teacher Appreciation Day) and National School Nurse Day (May 4). Everybody gets a day, at different times of the year: National School Counselor Day, Paraprofessionals' Day, Administrative Assistants' Day, School Bus Drivers' Day. For as difficult as it has become, working in the field of education, everyone that shows up, present for the students day in and day out, should be appreciated the 180 days of school.

We are fortunate to have a very dedicated staff at Exton that shows up and goes above and beyond for students. They are second to none. They have been faced with many challenges this year, yet they persevered. This week, we have all enjoyed and appreciated the kindness bestowed upon us (notes, cards, gifts, flowers, meals). We are grateful. There's one ask, try not to wait for these days, months of appreciation to roll around. Every now and then, send a shout out, special note or kind word. They make our day(s).

WE'RE ON THE COUNTDOWN

Who would have thought the end of the school year would come so quickly! Twenty-five days and counting. Students tend to start to get the end-of-the year itch to be done with school. Please remind and encourage your student(s) to remain focused and engaged. We're not done until June 10th. It will be business as usual. Maybe not as intense, but learning will continue none the less.

Congratulations to Sravya Tirumamidi and Koryn Myers for the excellent job they did at the April School Board meeting as our Exton Reps. Each year, schools are assigned a month to attend a School Board Meeting. Sravya and Koryn led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave an update on happenings at Exton. They did us proud!

Congratulations to all of our budding artists. Their works of art were on display at our first annual art show. Kudos to Mrs. Teodecki for planning and organizing the show. Everything she does, is a labor of love. Because of Mrs. Teodecki's love and enthusiasm for art and our students, they all believe their is an artist that lives inside of them.

Need summer reading for your student(s)? The Book Fair is scheduled for May 9- Mrs. Taylor always makes sure there is a nice variety of books for our diverse readers and their interests.

May 13. There will be an opportunity for parents to come in to shop at the fair on May 11, 3:30-7.

Every year, our grade levels schedule times for classes to visit the next year's grade level classes to meet the teachers and hear from the students about what it's like to be in that grade. Even though students don't know who their teacher will be next year, they look forward to meeting them and hearing from the students.

The track meet is back this year! Our fourth and fifth graders will be participating in the track meet on May 19th. The rain date is May 20th. Ms. Ardire (Ardare), our PE teacher has reached out to parents of 4th and 5th graders to volunteer as chaperones for the track meet. To date, she has not had many. If you would like to volunteer and are available or have questions, please email Ms. Ardire at JArdire@wcasd.net. The links below have been sent, but sending for Ms. Ardire, again. Remember, you must have current clearances on file.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

For the past two years, parents, educators, physicians and therapists have been concerned with the mental health and well-being of children after COVID. However, the mental health of children should always remain at the forefront of how children are doing socially and emotionally. While there are great expectations for children to do well academically, if they are not healthy mentally and emotionally, academic achievement will take a back seat. Do you need to register your child for school? Please do so sooner than later.

Parents complete registration online https://www.wcasd.net/Page/12419.

Parents can upload documents by scanning them or taking a picture of document and uploading to the registration portal. If parents are unable to do that, parents should email the documents to Terry Spranger (TSpranger@wcasd.net). She can upload the documents in the system if parents are unable to upload them directly online. After completion of information and uploads on the district web site, please email Mrs. Spranger to complete your registration virtually.

When school resumes, parents will need to provide the hard copy documentation.

If you will be moving or have a student(s) who will not be returning to Exton next school year, please email Mrs. Spranger (TSpranger@wcasd.net) and me as soon as possible. Any moves impact our enrollment numbers. We need this information for class assignments. If you have plans to move but are remaining in our attendance area, please email and let us know as well. You will need to provide proof of your new residence.
