Mock Interviews at Spring Hill
Over the past several weeks students Spring Hill Middle School completed a Project Based Learning (PBL) activity in Mr. Odom’s class. Students learned how and where to seek employment, how to apply, and how to interview. On Wednesday January 24 CTE students from Mr. Odom’s Exploring Career Decisions (ECD) class participated in a mock interview with two community guests. Mr. Terry Taylor, the owner of Community Drug and Mrs. Thorne from the NCWork Career Center came out to Spring Hill and conducted the interviews. Our guests were impressed by how prepared the students were. After the interviews, Mr. Taylor said, “I would hire any of the ones I interviewed. It’s great that students are learning about resumes and interviewing skills in middle school."
HOSA Students Help on Dental Van
The HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) club from Spring Hill Middle School helped with the dental van in December. Students had the opportunity to explore a career in dentistry. This is our first with year with HOSA clubs at middle school level. Both organizations have been very active and found ways to provide students with real life experiences.
