Spring Band Concert- Thursday, May 17
Our final band concert of the school-year is next Thursday, May 17th at 7 P.M. at the junior high. This is going to be a VERY SPECIAL evening because it will be Mrs. Kiener's final concert of her career. It promises to be a memorable night, and we cannot wait!
Concert Band students will need to report to the gym by 6:20 in uniform with instruments and music ready to go. As usual, the concert dress is black dress shoes, socks, and dress pants , and our blue polo shirts. All of our junior high band groups will be performing. This includes Jazz Band ‘too’, Jazz Band “one”, Concert Band, and the Symphonic Band. ALL BAND STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED STAY FOR THE ENTIRE CONCERT. The concert will be over at approximately 8:30 pm.
Students will be turning in their blue polo shirts at the end of the night so they should bring another shirt to change into.
Scholarships
Just like last year, all band students are eligible to apply for a summer lessons scholarship. Every year, the Lisle Band Parents Organization offers $125 music scholarships to students interested in taking private music lessons over summer and we expect to be able to offer a scholarship to each student that applies.
Private instruction, in my opinion, is the lifeblood of our band program. Working with a professional musician privately will set your child up for success. They will hone their playing fundamentals and will be able to progress much more quickly on their instruments. There are many instrument-specific skills that simply cannot be taught in a full-band setting. They will be able to learn at their own pace and their private instructor can give them specific advice and practice goals for improvement. And the best part…it’s FREE! The Lisle Band Parents Organization wants to give you $125 to cover the cost of these summer private lessons.
Students will be receiving the scholarship application in class tomorrow. You can access the form by clicking on the button below. All your child has to do is fill out the attached scholarship form, obtain a parent signature, and return it to myself or Mrs. Kiener. I truly believe that this is an important stage in each child’s musical development and I hope to receive an application from everybody! Scholarship applications will be due on Friday, May 4th.
