Parent Tip of the Week!
Tackling Test Questions - Hints for Standardized tests
Spring is around the corner and usually time for standardized tests. To help your student be prepared, share these tips about the types of questions that often appear.
Multiple Choice: Read all the answers before marking your choice. Remember, your first instinct is usually the best- so don't change your answer unless you're sure.
True/False: Look for words such as never, always, all, and none. They're usually in false answers. Words like may or often are generally found in true answers.
Essay: Read essay questions at least twice. Then, make a list of important thoughts, or key points, about each question before writing your essay. Read through the finished essay to be sure you've included all your key points. Check spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
Tip: Your child may feel more comfortable if they are familiar with the test format. Ask your child's teacher for a sample test or look at the public library.

Worthington’s Special Education Key Communicator Committee strives to build positive, productive and collaborative relationships and partnerships amongst the educators and community of families whose children receive special education and related services. The key communicator will convey information from their building to the committee, as well as information from the committee to their buildings

From the Health Office
Extra Clothes Still Needed!
Accidents happen! The health office is in need of extra clothes: Sizes 5/6 and 8/10 boys & girls sweatpants and leggings, as well as underwear in size 4-6. If you have extra/outgrown clothes in these sizes that you are willing to donate to the school would be very much appreciated!!
Vaccine Records
If your student has received the Covid vaccine, please provide a copy of this documentation to the Slate Hill Health Office. Thank You!Student Medications
Hello Slate Hill families. As a reminder all medication including prescribed and over the counter need to have appropriate medical forms filled out. Cough drops may be sent to school with students but must have a signed over the counter form and be kept in the health office. Please remember to screen your child daily for signs of illness when deciding whether or not to send your child to school. Below is a link to both our prescription medication form, our over the counter medication form, and the screening tool to determine when it is safe to send your child to school. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.

Happy New Year!
January is a great month to set goals for the upcoming year and to look back on all that we accomplished in the previous year (even if that is just making it through the year)! Below in the eBackpack you can find a fun activity that you can do with the whole family as well as the 7 Habits of a Positive Parent, which may help you think of some goals of your own!
Below you can also find my presentation that I gave at the PTA meeting on 1/13/2022 . It has tips about homework time and executive functioning skills.
As always, please feel free to reach out!
