Summer League Teams and Announcements and Such

Summer League is Coming!!!

Listed below are the teams for summer league. With the way things worked out this year we actually have TWO varsity teams and TWO JV teams. Schedules for play will follow (probably in a couple weeks) once I or your coaches receive them. I can't wait to watch you guys play!

Summer League

Wednesday, July 8th, 6-9pm

326 Ruthar Drive

Newark, DE

This is where you guys will be playing Summer League. I'll be there at 5pm on July 8th to meet everyone and hand out shirts for your teams. If you can't make the first game, I'll make arrangements for you to get your shirt before the second game.
  • Games occur every Wednesday from 6-9pm
  • The last game occurs on August 12th

Summer League Team Rosters

The teams listed below in no way mean that you are on a specific volleyball team for Appoquinimink High School, nor do they explicitly describe the construction of the AHS volleyball teams this fall. The teams are highly mixed on purpose and don't follow my original intentions for team creation, mostly due to the high interest from the incoming freshmen class. Nice job class of 2019! These team rosters are for Summer League only.

This camp has an outstanding, well experienced coaching staff from a variety of Division I and Division II athletic programs. I've heard very good things about this camp, and all the girls who attend have enjoyed their time, learned a lot and increased their volleyball IQ. Click here for more information.

Phones for Fitness

I realized recently that you guys are on your phones a LOT, so I've provided some things you can do with your phone related to sports and volleyball. Listed below are some apps you download to help yourself keep physically fit outside of our conditioning sessions. All of the apps below are free on android, but probably take up some data to download, so be mindful of your data plans. You may also find your own effective fitness apps, and that's fine as well. Just make sure you keep active and stay moving throughout the summer.

Not all Physicals are Created Equal!!!

Make sure when you get your physical done, you are getting a DIAA sports physical, not the regular run-of-the-mill physical your doctor gives you. This just means that you get the DIAA paperwork filled out while you are getting your physical completed. It's very important that the DIAA specific paperwork be filled out relative to the physical...if not you will have to go back to the doctor and get another one completed. You also need to make sure you turn in all 7 pages with all signatures.

Just Some Suggestions: Personally, I would also try to make it a goal to have your physical completed and turned into the office by August 1, 2015. This is due to the fact that a lot of people wait until the last minute to get them completed, making scheduling an appointment difficult. Athletes who wait until the first day of tryouts to turn in their physicals also may have to stand in line for up to 30 minutes, missing time from tryouts, while they wait for a nurse to check off their paperwork.

Some Reminders

  • Remember participation in the listed activities, camps or clinics is NOT necessary to tryout or earn a spot on the Appo Volleyball Team. Also participation in the listed activities, camps or clinics, or lack thereof, will NOT be held against you during tryouts. The purpose is to give you information to do with as you wish :)
  • Tryouts for Appo Volleyball start August 15th. You will need a new completed physical on file with the nurse in order to tryout for the team.
  • You can drop physicals off over the summer at the front desk. Even after school is done. The nurses come in periodically to check them off for students. Not having a completed physical on file with the nurse is one of the biggest reasons that prevents students from trying out for sports. Don't be that girl. Make a copy of your physical.
  • The building is open during the summer Monday through Thursday from 7am - 5pm starting June 15.

Contact Information

I'm not going to be in the building after June 12th, so calling would not be the best option to reach me. The fastest way to reach me would be through email. No word yet on a new Head Coach, so contact me if you need anything!
