Happy New Year! I would like to extend best wishes to all for a happy and healthy new year. It’s a pleasure to see all of the children, teachers, and staff back at school after a long, well deserved break. Just a reminder as the winter weather comes in to dress children appropriately to come to school and play at recess time. Coats, hats, and gloves are all great recommendations for this time of year.

I want to express my appreciation to our community, our families, our students, and our staff who for the past four months have faithfully placed their trust in Glanton-Hindsman and Carroll County Schools to successfully reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your dedication to public health guidance by wearing a mask, washing your hands, disinfecting regularly, and practicing social distancing has helped us to be successful and stay in school.

On Friday, December 11th, we had to do the hardest thing we have done all year. We sent our students home for distance learning due to the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Let me be clear, we want your children to be here with us. They are the reason we come to work each day and we missed them dearly.

As we return to school. I implore you to fight COVID fatigue and remain vigilant on safety and continue to practice healthy habits. Glanton-Hindsman will continue to leverage the healthy habits that made us so successful. Please remember to send your child to school daily with a mask and a water bottle. It is important that we continue to operate with an abundance of caution and keep students home when they are showing COVID-19 symptoms and report those symptoms to our school nurse.

We are all in this together and We Are VR.

Congratulations to all our wildcats who earned the chance to compete in our school-wide spelling bee today. We are proud to announce our winner, McKinzie Manuel, and our runner-up, Charlie Hudson! All of our participants did a wonderful job!
