Stanwood Middle School
Family Message - August 17th, 2021
Good evening Stanwood Middle School Families!
We hope this message finds everyone enjoying the last few weeks of summer! This Family Message is full of information and you can expect our weekly Family Messages to continue throughout the year. At Stanwood Middle School we believe communication is critical, please do not hesitate to reach out at any time with questions or concerns!
New this year we will be having Family Connection Conferences for all families on August 30th and 31st. The purpose of this conference is to meet with your student's Advisory Teacher to start a positive connection with Stanwood Middle School, to answer any questions you may have, and to become familiar with our building. We also want to learn more about each of our students. When you come to the building you will also have the opportunity to check out a chromebook for the new year, receive your student's class schedule, tour the building, look over and sign required paperwork, and much more!
Below is a link sign up for a Family Connection Conference, please click on the link and submit the form when done:
More important information
Stanwood Middle School PTO
Our PTO is an amazing group of people working together to support our students. From fundraisers to activities, their work helps our Spartans engage, connect, and thrive at Stanwood Middle School. Please like their Facebook page for all the up-to-date information about our school--and get ready for a great fundraiser coming this September!
Athletics
While we are still working on all of the specifics relating to athletics beginning this September, following the latest guidance from the health department and WIAA, we are excited to have our 7th and 8th grade Spartans return to the field, course, and pitch. If your Spartan is interested in either Cross Country, Football, Girls' Soccer, or Softball, please take a moment to fill out this interest survey:
Sixth graders will have opportunities for clubs during the school year as well as wrestling during the third sports season.
Schedules
As we work on finalizing schedules for students, we have a target date of August 25 to be able to see them in Skyward. Thank you for your patience!
Dress Code
As people start to plan their first day of school outfit, please keep in mind our dress code. For all students, clothing must cover from one armpit to the other armpit to three or four inches down the upper thigh and tops must have shoulder straps (please see the picture below). We also have a no hats or hoods policy for all students while in the building for safety reasons to where we can recognize students and staff.
School Supplies
The basics are a great place to start for needed school supplies (some teachers will have additional needs):
A good supply of pens (blue and/or black) and pencils
4-5 composition notebooks
College ruled paper
Binder/Folders
Highlighters
Calculator--low function with square root
Students will also need to dress for P.E. daily
We know this is a lot of information! Please do not hesitate to call our office between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily!
As I mentioned earlier, you can expect our Family Messages weekly throughout the year!
Have a good night!
