PLANNING RESOURCES FOR PRINCIPALS
We have included many links below to help you navigate through this crazy period in our history.
KEEP CALM & KEEP ON SWINGING
We are living in unprecedented times. In my lifetime, I have never seen our world, country, states, and cities in such a frenzy. I’m sure you agree. THANKS to Kevin Overfelt, Principal, Raytown South HS for sending the video above.
SPRING CONFERENCE POSTPONED
We are officially postponing the 48th Annual Spring Conference, scheduled for March 29-31. We are attempting to reschedule at a later date. I visited with Dr. Doug Hayter, Executive Director of MASA, this morning to inform me that the MASA/MOSPRA 2020 Spring Conference was going to be canceled. Their conference preceded ours.
As school leaders, we understand the optics here. When you have major sporting events and conferences canceled, travel bans, and breaking news by the minute, we have to rethink our position.
We have spoken with The Lodge of Four Seasons and they will not charge for individuals or groups who have secured rooms and there will be no cancellation charge. If you have prepaid, you will receive reimbursement. You will receive an email from the Lodge confirming the cancellation. You don’t need to call the Lodge of Four Seasons to cancel.
As we consider possible reschedule dates, MoASSP will communicate additional details as needed. We have heard the phrase many times in education, “Monitor and Adjust.” The Coronavirus (COVID—19) is testing our ability to do just that.
MoASSP recognizes the strong leadership of our secondary school principals during these unmatched times. MoASSP is also grateful for the unwavering support of the Lodge of Four Seasons, our corporate sponsors, and our exhibitors as we partner together to support school principals. Remember, “This too shall pass.”

We are looking forward to hosting our first annual A.P. Summit sponsored by the College Board on June 25 from 9:15-3:15 at Columbia Hickman High School. This Summit will be an opportunity to engage with educators across the state on key topics relating to Advanced Placement—best practices to increase student awareness, operational logistics and strategies for parent/student engagement. We’ll also provide an overview of changes to the Advanced Placement program. In order to ensure that we meet your needs during this summit, we would like to hear from you. After you register, please take a moment to complete a brief survey which is included on the Advanced Placement link. Make plans to attend this one-day event here in Columbia, Missouri. Take a moment and alert your A.P. faculty of this opportunity.
We have been in contact with Ed Leaders Network, who oversees our MoASSP Online Community. They should have all members uploaded by the end of the business day today. Give the system 24 hours to update. Thanks for your patience as we roll out this new collaborative tool for all of our members. We encourage you to post a question. How about uploading a resource to the library to benefit the community? Or, only, connecting with a colleague. As a reminder, only MoASSP members have access to the community. Check it out today.
MISSOURI SCHOLARS 100
