The Tiger Times
Week of October 16 through October 20
Hello Tiger Family!
and Happy Sunday!
Claudia shared this with the staff this morning and if you haven't had a chance to watch it, you can find it here. An incredible story of a teacher that gave her students a chance to shine their light and the impact they've had on the world because of it.
“I’ll rise up
I’ll rise up unafraid
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again.”
The work we do every day is the most challenging of puzzles and there is no group of people I'd rather do it with than you.
Rising up,
Shelley

Timberline's Big Three
See Do Get - How are we changing what we have the power to change?
Since we came together as a staff on August 8th, we continued to revisit the research and impact behind how are beliefs impact our lives every day. We talked that day about the Pygmalion study and since have revisited this in the 7 Habits. Habit 1, being proactive, and the structure of See-Do-Get reinforce that what we believe or how we choose to frame things impacts our actions which directly impacts our results. The article and video below are great resources for finding out more about how we can change what we're getting by changing the way we think.
Connections: What are the ways you think about each of your students or colleagues? What does your internal voice say about what they do and why they do it? What does it say about what they can or can't do? Just for a week, commit to "telling" a completely different story about your most challenging student or colleague. What impact does this have?
Tier 1 Behavior - I've tried a restorative chat! Now what?
Knowing we utilize restorative chats with students when poor behavior choices are made, what are some "next steps" we can take in Tier 1 to intervene with our students? Jade shared a website that has many other resources (Tier 1 Interventions, Data Tracking Forms for positive behavior and behavior of concern, student friendly behavior charts, etc) that is great resource to add to your Tier 1 Toolbox. It identifies the specific behavior, characteristics of the behavior you will see in your classroom and some options that you may use. You first need to identify (click on) the behavior you wish to focus on.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to Jade, Mariana, Lisa or any of the staff if you need to brainstorm ideas of what to put in place for a student if there are some behavior concerns.

Nuts and Bolts is our "virtual faculty meeting". Please read all information carefully and reach out if you have any questions or need clarification.
Because of increased congestion in the front parking lot at arrival and based on feedback from many parents, the front parking lot will be available for substitute parking and visitors with scheduled appointments only before 7:40 in the mornings. Not only has the increased congestion created a safety concern for students, it is increasing the likelihood of a car accident. This was included in the family video newsletter that went out this weekend!
FLEX hours are due Monday, October 16th. If you were hired at the beginning of the year, see last week's Nuts and Bolts for your dates.
Please begin with the end in mind and remember to be on time through out the day. It is important to protect learning time, but running even a couple minutes late for or in specials, library or lunch can have a ripple effect on others through out the day. Creating a schedule keeper leadership position would be a great way to help us stay on track.
Daniela delivered the headphones you were missing last week. Please take the time to establish procedures for taking care of them and having a place to store them. Remind your students of these procedures often. We will not be replacing damaged headphones this year.
Please have Greeter Leadership jobs established this week!
For our upcoming Tiger U, October 23rd, please read Chapter 1 of Learning Targets prior to us meeting. See Audra if you have not picked up your copy; we can place a re-order if we need additional copies. I will have a digital copy posted here tomorrow if you need to access it this way for now. Paraprofessionals are not required to attend this Tiger U.
Team leaders will meet with teams sometime this week in order to share information discussed at CLT on Monday. CLT Meeting minutes can be found here Monday evening.
If you have not done so, please let Marie-France know how you or your team is helping with Taste of Timberline. Melissa J. and Marie-France sent out emails with ideas for how everyone can help no matter how tight a budget is on time or money!! Taste of Timberline is an important example of how synergy works to improve results...and lightens the load for everyone :D
Faculty Meeting follow up clarifications:
- There was some confusion for what "you have until Wednesday" means. If you get your faculty meeting information by reading the Tiger Times as we've been doing all year, sign the faculty sign-in sheet prior to 11:00 pm Tuesday night (sign-in sheet goes off line then). The purpose of Nuts and Bolts is for you to have information for the upcoming week and this could include time-sensitive items.
- If you aren't able to read and sign in prior to this time, plan to attend the face-to-face faculty meeting Wednesday in the PLC room immediately following dismissal.
- If you have any additional questions, send them with your team lead and we can answer them at CLT Monday!
Please click here for the Virtual Faculty Meeting sign-in sheet.
