A Message from Mrs. Caudill
Dear Bobcat Families,
This week I was able to get into every classroom and read a book. The book I read is titled, Not Norman, A Goldfish Story. This simple picture book has a big message. In each class we discussed the qualities of being a good friend, and being a kind and understanding to our classmates. I asked each student to "act like Norman". This weekend, ask your child about this book and what Norman the Fish did to be a good friend to the boy.
We also discussed how the book related to one of our Leader in Me Habits, Habit 5. In learning about Habit 5 we learn to seek first to understand and then to be understood. We talked about how the boy did not think the boy was a very good pet, but he also really didn't give Norman a chance. But, once the boy spent time with Norman, he realized he was a great pet and he would not want any other pet, even if given the chance to trade Norman.
Reading to classes this week gave me such a positive boost of energy. I cannot wait for our year together. It is going to be great!
Stay well,
Devon Caudill

Help us keep your kids safe at Arrival and Dismissal
- As a reminder the Amerman parking lot gates are closed from 8:32 - 8:42 AM and from 3:45 - 3:55 PM. This is for the safety of our walkers that cross in front of the parking lots. Please do not attempt to move the gates yourself or get upset at our safeties when they adhere to our policies. Please remember they are just kids trying to follow the rules we gave them.
- Families are welcome to use our amazing playgrounds after school. When moving from one playground to another, please do not walk/bike through the car loop while cars are still picking up students.
- If you have changed your mind about how your child is getting home and they are already in the car loop, please notify one of the adults you see in charge so they are aware you are taking your child. Our staff gets worried when a child is not where they are supposed to be.
In the loop at the end of the day, Amerman teachers and staff will make sure children get to the correct vehicle. Help us keep all our children safe by paying attention to the staff members.
- Please advance and come to a complete stop while we get your child/children to your car.
- You should not need to call or beckon your child to your car.
- Please do not back up or try to move around the car in front of you unless directed by a staff member.
- And as always, clearly display the name of the student(s) being picked up until your child is in the car.

- Sign up for passive fundraisers. Raise money just by shopping as usual!
Fun Run
Our PTA is sponsoring our first ever Fun Run this Fall : ‘Race-For-Recess’ . All proceeds will benefit our playground. See flyer below for details with link & QR code to make donations.
Donating is simple! Each Class has a Team Name. Simply search by Team Name or by the students first name and last initial. Students will also have individual web pages. To do this simply click on the “Navigate” button, search for your student again with first name and last initial. Your student’s name will show up with a link to their own Fundraising page. Simply copy the link and share with friends and families or even social media.
Invest In Your Child
The PTA has shared a welcome packet with your Bobcat this week. Please look for the letter, the Invest In Your Child (IIYC) flyer and other important info including a Year-At-A-Glance poster. We encourage families to participate in the IIYC program to help enrich our students’ learning experiences.
Our PTA is also planning to giveaway Amerman Cinch bags to all participating families, while supplies last.
Birthday Cafe
The Birthday Cafe Table is back for the first time since 2020!
The PTA is excited to restart our traditional Birthday Cafe Table this school year. This means families are able to join their birthday Bobcat for a special lunch in the MPR during the students’ lunch hour. Please look for a Listserv communication with more details next week.
This program will kick-off the first week of October. The PTA suggests that September birthdays plan to celebrate their half-birthdays in March so they don’t have to miss any of the fun! Stay tuned and more info to follow soon.

Infectious Disease Response to COVID 2022-23
Students and staff that contract COVID should follow the Health Department recommendations and isolate for five days from the date where symptoms were present or from the date of their positive rapid or PCR test. Isolation includes waiting to return to school until the isolation period has ended. It is also recommended that students or staff should wear a mask for 5 days past their isolation period. See MDHHS Graphic below.
Parents should notify their child’s school of the absence reason so that teachers are aware of the student's absence period and our nurses can follow the health department’s infectious disease requirements. NPS School Nurses are available should you have any questions.

hot lunch program for interested students
Families must preorder lunches for preschools and elementary students. Orders must be in by 8:30 AM for elementary students to receive a lunch that day. The system will not allow you to order after the time listed above. For your convenience, meals can be preordered up to 30 days in advance. To avoid any issues, we recommend ordering the night before.
