Mealtime should be an enjoyable time to connect with friends and family. A barrier to enjoying meals can be the stress of planning, and lack of time...and honestly at the end of the day- we're all just tired! In this make-and-take meal prep class, you'll work with a group to prepare freezer meals. Each group will prepare many batches of a recipe to share with all participants so when you leave class you'll grab one from each group- leaving with 4 different meals to put in your freezer for those busy nights or weekends. A bonus is that we'll have fun while we do it! WIN - WIN!

Have you always wanted to learn the basics of decorating sugar cookies like a professional? If so, then these classes are for you! No experience necessary! In each 2 hour class you will learn all the tips and tricks to make a beautiful, decorated cookie set. Basic piping and filling techniques, down to the small details will be demonstrated. Included with the class are 6 undecorated cookies, 3-4 icing colors, sprinkles/embellishments if required for the set, tools (scissors, trays, tweezers instructor keeps), a box to take your finished creations home, and step by step instructions!

HEALTH IN BALANCE: GROUP COACHING WORKSHOPS

In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do-using chords. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home with no pressure at all. And since this course includes an online book and additional follow up online video lessons, you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. Students can also access monthly question and answer sessions at no additional cost. The course is part lecture/demonstration and part hands-on instruction.
Course topics include: How chords work in a song. • How to get more out of sheet music by reading less of it. • How to form the three main types of chords. • How to handle different keys and time signatures. • How to avoid "counting". • How to simplify over 12,000 complex chords.
Course requirements: Piano or electric keyboard, internet connected device (laptop or tablet is preferred).

This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM - Renewal Class
Instructor: Brent Woodfill
Cars, traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads you travel every day have changed. Some drivers aged 50-plus have never looked back since they got their first driver’s license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from refreshing their driving skills. Learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You’ll learn how you can manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing, reaction time, and much more. Minnesota state law requires insurance providers to offer a 3 year, 10% auto insurance discount to licensed drivers age 55 and older upon completion of an approved defensive driving course. The eight hour First Time class is required if you have not taken one previously through AARP. Bring your AARP membership card (if you are a member) to class.

ST. CROIX RIVER BOAT TOUR
Adult Trip
Tour the St. Croix River Valley by paddlewheel boat while learning about the area’s history and unique rock formations along the way. Since 1906, tourists by the thousands have enjoyed the scenic beauty of the world-famous Dalles of the St. Croix River by boat. While aboard the excursion boat, which includes an enclosed lower level, with an open upper deck, your licensed boat pilot and tour guide will point out the unique rock formations left behind as the glaciers retreated thousands of years ago. Enjoy a boxed lunch sandwich, chips, cookie and pickle onboard. Beverages can be purchased on the boat. As part of the trip there will be an opportunity to explore the shops in downtown Taylors Falls on your own.

HIGH TIDES SWIM CLUB
Instructor: Chad Miller
A group of professionally coached athletes that learn valuable lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and personal achievement while having a ton of fun in the pool. This program focuses on swimming skills and techniques as well as aerobic and strength conditioning. High Tides works to ensure success for swimmers as they move through levels so that they are comfortable and consistent with the demands of each group. Swimmers will be required to master certain skills, perform at specific levels in training, and exhibit certain behavioral criteria to advance to the next swimming level. Swimmers are grouped by skill level, not necessarily by age. It is recommended to have passed Red Cross Level 4 to participate. Register Online

EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING
Ages 3-5. Early Childhood Screening is a FREE and simple check to assist parents in improving the educational readiness and health of young children through the early detection of factors that may impede their learning, growth, and development. Screening is ideally performed as close to age 3 as possible, but is mandated by the State of MN to be completed before kindergarten. Early screening can detect possible health or learning concerns to enable a child to get help before they begin kindergarten. DON’T WAIT!
During the screening a well-qualified staff of nurses and early childhood staff will “play games” to check:

- Social & Emotional Development • Large & Small Muscle Development
- Hearing & Vision • Height & Weight

SUSTAINABLE MAKE & TAKE LAB (New class!)

Learn simple ways to reduce waste with these fun make & take projects that you can use in your everyday life.
• Sew reusable napkins & assemble a travel utensil kit.
• Start a worm composting bucket with leftover kitchen scraps to create "garden gold" that will help your plants grow healthy and strong.
• Build a raised garden bed & start a mini-herb garden.
• Make creative plant markers to add a little whimsy to your garden.

Don't forget your swimsuit and towel (come with your swimsuit on under your clothes to save time) and then change into comfy clothes after swimming. Bring a pillow and blanket if you would like to snuggle in as we end the evening with a movie.

Instructors: Varsity Gymnastic Athletes & Coaches
Jump, twist, turn and tumble with the Charger gymnasts! This mini-camp will introduce basic gymnastic skills on all four apparatuses (vault, bars, beam, and floor). Gymnasts will increase their flexibility, balance, coordination, strength and self-confidence in a positive and safe environment. For those youth gymnasts, with more experience, this mini-camp will give them more time in the gymnastics gym while learning from our high school gymnasts in a fun and energetic atmosphere!

KERNELS BASEBALL SPRING TRAINING CAMP
Grades 1-6
Instructors: Nick Corbin, Bill Aho, Isaac Nelson
Brush the dust off your bat and ball by attending this Spring Baseball Clinic. Players will work on getting ready for the baseball season by rotating through stations and drills helping them to get back into the swing of things! Hitting, pitching, throwing, catching and fielding will help each player work on their form and develop their skills. This will be a great clinic to start the season before tryouts in April. Batter up! Coaches will work with players individually and in small groups to move through the fundamentals of baseball, getting them warmed up and ready for the pending season! Come prepared with your glove and bat. Registration includes a Kernels t-shirt. Please indicate shirt size at time of registration. Join the Cokato Kernels for any one 2024 home game; players and their families will receive one free admission pass and players will get Kernels Kash for a free pop and popcorn. Space is limited and class does fill up!

SOFTBALL TECHNIQUE LESSONS (New class!)

This is an opportunity for middle school athletes to fine-tune their fielding and hitting skills before the start of the spring fastpitch school season and/or summer ball. During these smaller group instruction sessions players will work on their throwing, fielding, and hitting techniques. Players should wear athletic attire & shoes and bring their softball glove and bat (if they have one).

Join your friends in the gym to get a jumpstart on the summer softball season or get some additional reps in to help hone your softball skills. DC Softball Assn. members will be on hand for some basic skill instruction. Players can focus on throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, baserunning, and pitching. The batting cage and pitching machine will also be available for use. These sessions are only available for DC softball players who played travel softball last summer or plan to play this upcoming season. Players must sign-in when they arrive and provide their own equipment (glove, bat, balls, helmet) and wear athletic apparel and tennis shoes. A limited supply of bats, helmets and balls will be supplied.

GIRLS TRAVELING SUMMER SOFTBALL
Instructors: Dassel-Cokato Softball Assn. (DCSA)

Competitive girls traveling summer fastpitch softball. Season will run from mid-May through late July. Practice dates and times will be determined by the DCSA and each team’s coaches. 10 and Under through High School typically plays games two evenings a week on Mondays and Wednesdays and the 8 and Under program will have one evening game per week on Wednesdays against area communities. Game schedules are determined by the Crow River Athletics Fastpitch League coordinator and released approx. mid-May. It is the responsibility of parents to make sure their child has transportation to and from home and away games and practices. The DCSA is committed to the development of girls’ softball in our community, the improvement of individual softball skills, and the goal of a very competitive D-C High School team. The number of participants will determine the number of teams. *NEW: This is the only girls softball option for students in Gr. 1+ offered through Community Ed. To calculate the appropriate softball level based on the player's age and to ensure they are not too old for a level use this age/level calculator.
Players must purchase their own gray softball pants, navy belt and socks (approx. $30). Each player will receive a personalized jersey/shirt provided by area sponsors. SOFTBALL CLINIC
Instructors: HS Coaches & Athletes
This clinic will provide the basics of hitting, proper fielding techniques, aggressive base running and the technique of throwing and catching a softball. Charger softball coaches and players of the D-C Charger varsity girls softball team will assist in teaching these skills. Clinic participants will also be a VIP guest at an upcoming home varsity softball game.
Bring your glove, water bottle & wear athletic clothes/shoes.

This strength program will focus on the fun of fitness training as a compliment to athletic sports and long-term athletic development. The emphasis will be on development of coordination, agility, proper running mechanics, and core development. Core lifts will be introduced, but with light weights.

The focus of this one-hand touch 7 on 7 Football League will be learning football specific skills and applying those in games versus neighboring communities. Groups will practice together during the week and separate into teams (Gr. 3/4 & Gr. 5/6) for weekend games, all held at DC.

This course is for youth of any ability and covers all beginning basic archery skills and safety rules for young archers. SUMMER BREAKTHROUGH BASKETBALL CAMP
Grades 3-8, Boys & Girls
Instructor: Breakthrough Basketball
This 3 day youth and middle school camp focuses on developing the complete player. Players will develop their shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, defense, rebounding, athleticism, and other essential skills to become a great basketball player. Players will be grouped based on age and gender to start during the individual skill work drills. Each session is limited to 60 players.
