Chartwell Summer Camp
UCSF Partnership
Over the last two weeks, UCSF evaluators and neuroscientists traveled to Chartwell to evaluate our students and to present assessment results to teachers and families. We collaborated to interpret findings and discuss possible teaching strategies.
If you are interested in the study please contact us.
The Dyslexia Center at UCSF is performing a Phenotyping Study led by Dr. Marilu Gorno Tempini. Chartwell students travel to the Sandler Neurosciences Center at UCSF for an fMRI, emotions testing, and a visual-spatial assessment. Additionally, assessments are administered with UCSF staff at Chartwell.
The second part of the study is the Program for Research on Neurodevelopmental and Translational Outcomes. "Outcomes" is led by Dr. Bob Hendren, with the UCSF Department of Psychiatry. In this part of the study, teachers and parents monitor progress on a technology-based platform called eBit.

Mini Maker Faire
For the past few weeks, middle-grade students have been engaged in a hands-on, innovative STEAM project where they have invented and programmed their own interactive exhibits geared towards younger peers in grades 2-6. On Thursday they showcased these contraptions at our own Mini Maker Faire, during the last two periods of the day. It was an absolute success!
