Principal's Den
It has been a great weekend so far! Today's rainy weather is pretty relaxing too. In our household, we are feeling pretty lazy today...and that's ok!!! Lazy days are needed!
We are going to be short staffed in the front office on Tuesday. We need your help! We need for two teachers from each grade level to make plans to be on lunch duty during your grade level lunch. You will then have your 30 minute lunch during your student's recess time. Thanks in advance for your help!
Tuesday, September 4, K-4 teachers will be meeting with Tammy, Anna and me to go over AimsWeb Plus and what it all entails. It will be totally different from anything we have ever done but I do think that the data will help us know our kids even better than before.
KellerISD "Swap & Drop" early voting ends on Tuesday. If you live in KellerISD and have not had the chance to vote yet, just let us know. Jen Cowen has offered to watch your class so you can drive to Summerglen Library near the corner of Basswood Blvd and Beach Street.
It's time to start thinking about your parent conferences. Conferences should be a time for you to listen to parents’ concerns, answer questions, and share academic successes and challenges. As most of you are aware, the district asks that we meet with every parent by October 9th. Tuesday, October 9th is a scheduled holiday for our students and you will have the whole day to schedule some of your conferences. Throughout the year, teachers will also make a good faith effort to conference with parents of students experiencing academic difficulty at each progress reporting period.
Beginning of the year conferences & those you have to schedule throughout the year may be done over the phone if the parents absolutely cannot make it in, but do everything you can to get them in the school. For your safety, please do your best to schedule conferences during your planning period. If you have to schedule a late afternoon conference, please make arrangements with a teammate or an administrator to be on campus with you.
Curriculum Walks
- She saw student engagement in every classroom. Kids were participating in class activities and discussions.
- She said that every single teacher at Sunset Valley were strong instructors and that it is very obvious that you care for kids. Kids were happy!
- She and Dawn Bailey were very impressed at the level of instruction being done in the UoS in Reading and Writing.
- Many of the students were asked, "What are you learning today?" Many referred to your I can statement and/or your anchor charts. :)
- We were able to talk about some great coaching questions. There was never a feeling of "this is what was wrong". I love that we shared these ideas and that I was able to talk to some of you directly about all of these positives & was able to use the coaching questions suggested.
