Benvolio/ Balthasar
People should give guidance to ones in need.
Act 1, Scene 1
Benvolio has a way of guiding people in the right direction. For example, when he speaks to Romeo about Rosaline. " Be ruled by me: forget to think of her... By giving liberty unto thine eyes: examine other beauties" (1000. 240-243) Benvolio knows that as much as Romeo does not want to he needs to move on from Rosaline. Benvolio will then take Romeos love life into his own hands. He guides him to move on from her and start to look for someone new, without him guiding Romeo to this resolution Juliet may never have been the thing Romeo was looking for.
Act 3, Scene 1
Benvolio also gives guidance to Mercutio. For example when Mercutio is about to participate in a fight right in the middle of town. " We talk here in public haunt of men. Either withdraw unto some private place and reason coldly of your grievances , or else depart. Here all eyes gaze on us" (1045. 52-55) Here benvolio knows its not allowed to fight anymore since the prince got upset and banned it. So when no one else is going to intervene he does. Benvolio uses his wisdom and ability to take control to give smart guidance to those around him, which is good for all of the trouble makers he runs around with.
Act 5, Scene 3
Balthasar and Benvolio are one in the same, both guiding those who are in need. For example, when Balthasar is explaining to Frair Lawrence why he wont go into the Capulets tomb. " ...My master knows not but I am am gone hence, and fearfully did menace me with death if I do stay to look on his intents" (1096. 42-44). Romeo threatens Balthasar with death if he does not leave and return home, but Balthasar can't bring himself to leave romeo but also respects him enough to deny the Frair to go in, for this he gives guidance to not only others but himself.
Act 3, Scene 1
"Benvolio who began this bloody fray" (1050. 62) Benvolio is trusted by all to guide them in the right direction. He of all people was asked by the prince to tell what happened in the fight. The Price knew that if anyone would give the best explanation to guide towards the right choice, it would be Benvolio.
