When and why did the attack begin?
The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor because the USA and Japan had been getting closer and closer to war because of their interactions with each other and they didn't like what the other country was doing and who they were allied with. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with fighter jets on the morning of December 7, 1941.
Pearl Harbors effect on WWII
Pearl Harbor had a major impact on WWII because with out it happening the USA might not have joined the war. Pearl Harbor attack caused war to be declared on the USA and then we had to respond by getting troops ready and making an army. Pearl Harbor is the main reason that we joined the war.
FDR said this after Pearl Harbor was attacked. This gave america a reason to join the war.

On December 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, 353 fighters bombed them 2,403 people were killed and 1,178 people wounded, 169 planes destroyed and 159 other planes damaged, 3 ships were destroyed and 16 heavily damaged.
