This week is Bus Driver Appreciation Week!
We hope you all had an amazing weekend and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather! As you hold parent-teacher conferences this week we just wanted to say thank you for the time and dedication you have spent preparing for them. Parent-teacher relationships are most important for each child’s success in school and are most effective when we have frequent and open communication with each other and demonstrate mutual respect for each other’s role in a child’s life. We know our parents so look forward to the time you spend with them sharing glows about their children’s year thus far, but also seek guidance from you as to ways to best to support them and be a school partner at home When families are positively involved in their child’s education, the child will flourish. We know you have each spent a great deal of time preparing for conferences by thinking about each child’s interests, their strengths, and their areas for growth. THANK YOU for making a difference everyday in the life of JCE children and making these conversations with parents so meaningful!

Instruction and Curriculum Support
Hi Teachers, I had a great time with PL these last several days. Here are examples of people and resources that were used in PL Community groups:
Chris Biffle – Whole Brained Teaching
Rick Smith – Conscious Teachers
Sherry Parrish – Number Talks
Edutopia - Project Based Leaning
I am always available to talk more one-on-one or with your team about any of these subjects.
Fourth and Fifth grades are coming to Guidance with Mrs. Flynn and/or Ms. Ford (room #1213) Through October 29th. Fourth grade will meet us in the Media Center for one lesson on learning styles. We will complete this lesson in the media center tomorrow (Tuesday 10-20-15). Then we will be back in my room on Wednesday (10-21-15) for the lesson on understanding our personal organization and work habits, based on our personal learning style. Fifth grade will be in my room for both lessons. We will be doing a peer pressure lesson followed by a coping skills lesson.
Red Ribbon Week:
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 26th through October 30. Here are the daily themes:
Monday – Wear Red - to kick off Red Ribbon Week!
Tuesday – Team Up Against Drugs – wear your favorite team shirt or jersey
Wednesday – We Are Wild About Being Drug Free – wear wild hair
Thursday – Shade Out Drugs – wear shades/sun glasses
Friday – You choose!! Don’t Let Drugs Steal Your Dreams – wear PJ pants only, no slippers or Show Great Character and Don’t Do Drugs – Dress as your favorite character from your favorite book.

Community Holiday Giving Program:
Information was given to grade chairs at the last leadership meeting. The program has been changed! We will not be sponsoring any individual families. Any family in need must go through the community program. You can sponsor an item collection in your classroom if you would like. Please look at the link on the Johns Creek web page for more information or find me!
Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything!
Have a wonderful week,
Onalee and Linda
Technology and Media
- Digital Discovery has been postponed. Please consider attending once it is rescheduled. A huge thanks to Maria and Jenelle for being willing to present.
- Thank you all for your patience while the desktops were switched out.
- Please enroll in the Google Educator Training course in itslearning. We will be learning about the different functions of Google Apps this year, and this course has great tutorials and ideas.
- Promethean has several amazing tools out there and are willing to give the district access to one of them, Class Flow, in exchange for 10,000 Flipcharts! In the Share (W) Drive, I have created a folder called "Promethean Flipcharts". Inside the folder are grade level/Special area folders. Please add as many flipcharts that you've created in the appropriate folder for me to share with the county by Oct. 20. Thanks!
Thanks for all of your support with the Book Fair. Total sales were over $15,000!!! We get 25% to purchase new library books and teacher resource materials.
