Vision Team...ZOOM Meeting Style!
A HUGE THANK YOU to our Vision Team for thinking outside of the box and trying something NEW! We met on Monday evening at 8pm (instead of coming in to meet in the morning) and we got a lot accomplished in under 30 minutes! We feel good about the direction we are headed as a team and appreciate your grade level/department feedback, real SOON!
For those of you that haven't tried ZOOM, it is a great tool to use with your grade level/department teams when working from home, with other departments in the district (i.e. art, sped), or with your students. It's free for 40-minutes with 3 or more participants! Check it out: https://zoom.us/
Vision Team is also reading "The Power of a Positive Team". Here's an excerpt that makes me think of SVE..."People on positive teams have a lot of belief in each other, a lot of love for each other, and a lot of desire to accomplish something great together. They pursue excellence and always strive to get better and make their team better". - Jon Gordon

FUTURE READY -- INTENTIONAL SPACE DESIGN
Considering making changes to your learning environment? This guide provides some essential concepts to consider as well as some practical tips on where to begin. Learning space design can serve as the linkage between instructional design and technology integration. When all three of these areas are working in sync, the amplification of modern learning leads to amazing results for kids. Research continues to emerge showing that student choice and movement in the classroom coupled with intentional design by educators can maximize engagement and students satisfaction. This is an essential time to make space design a part of your leadership focus.

Need to Know SVE & LSR7:
New News:
*Farewell: As you have been made aware, Ms. Jones has resigned her position. She made a wonderful and memorable impact at SVE and has a lot to give others! We wish her the best in her journey and future endeavors! Ms. Jones sends her well wishes to all!
*Welcome: Jaron Gamber, new Resource Aide! We are grateful to have you at SVE!
*NEE Teacher Survey Information: See email from Kayla - Complete by March 13th

*Panera Funderaising Night: SVE is hosting a fundraising event at the 1686 Northwest Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64081 location on Thursday, February 28, 2019 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Thank you for promoting this event!
*Read Across America - From Annie: The LSHS book club has a tradition of bringing a few high school students to read to our feeder elementary schools on Read Across America day. We'd love to visit on Monday March 4th if there is interest from elementary teachers. We would likely have time to visit 2-4 schools from approximately 9:00-11:30. We will have 10-12 students, and they will read for about 15-20 minutes per classroom. I've created a form to help us stay organized. Our students have really enjoyed it in the past.
*Black History Month: I have seen a lot of great lessons happening in your classrooms! Woo hoo!! If you need supplement work, the DREAM team created some lessons that you can incorporate in your classrooms this week!
1. Play the story of Martin's Big Words by Doreen Rappaport: Martin's Big Words Video - There is also a similar version on Safari Montage that may be better.
2. Discuss some of the famous influential leaders from black history. Influential Leaders - Black History Month - Presentation created by Student Diversity Team - Share with your students
3. Have students share what they would REALLY want others to know if they would take the time to get to know them! (A copy was placed in your mailbox). This is a great tie into black history month, as it is a focus on getting to know the person on the INSIDE, rather than being judged by appearances, race, disabilities, etc.

*Last Day of School Updated: Due to the school cancellations due to inclement weather, the last day of school is Thursday, May 30, 2019. It will be an early release day.
*MAP Grade-Level Window Extension (from Dr. Barger): We have reached the number of snow days that I believe it is appropriate to extend our MAP Grade Level testing window by 1 week. The new window will begin on April 3 (no change) and close on May 14 (a week longer).
