April 2019 Newsletter

Dear SLHS Families,

Over the last month, SLHS has had some fun and exciting events going on. These are just some of them.......Sadie Hawkins Dance, Circus, Model UN Conference, Big Buddies, Psychology Fair, Ski trip to Titus, Spring Sports started, College Planning Night, Job Fair @ NCCC, Clothing Drive, Blood Drive and our Musical. I hope you were able to come and experience the musical, “Urinetown” last weekend. It was outstanding and our students did an amazing job.

Grades

Friday, April 5th will be the last day of the 3rd quarter and grades are available on SchoolTool on April 10th. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s grades, please contact their teacher(s). If you have not logged onto SchoolTool, I encourage you to do so. You may contact Mrs. Diana Schwartz in the main office (891-4450) or schwartdia@slcs.org for instructions if you are unsure how to do so. SchoolTool affords you the opportunity to not only look at current grades but also monitor your child’s attendance and assignments.

Administrative Professionals Day

April 24th is Administrative Professionals Day. This day recognizes and celebrates the hard work of secretaries, administrative assistants and other office professionals for their contributions. The SLHS is so lucky to have three amazing women who keep the school running smoothly. Thank you Mrs. Benham, Mrs. McHugh and Mrs. Schwartz! Their hard work, thoughtfulness and dedication are appreciated, not only on this day, but all year.

Testing & Calendar

The May 4th SAT (deadline to register is April 5th) and June 8th ACT (deadline to register is May 3rd) are given here at SLHS. AP exams will be given May 6th-15th this year and the schedule is posted on the SLHS google calendar. If you have any questions about these exams, please visit the Guidance Office website or contact the Guidance Office at 897-1455. We essentially have nine weeks of instruction until the Regents exams begin on June 18th. Students need to show up and finish the year strong.

I hope your families have a restful and relaxing Spring Break. Please visit the SLHS website to stay up to date on school activities, assignments and important dates.

Sincerely,

Joshua Dann, Principal
