Remember LPAC for Early Childhood Students
Please continue to refer to the current process for EE students who have a second language influence noted in the FIE.
The diagnostician or SLP at the receiving program campus
- Connects the parent with campus LPAC representative and campus registrar to schedule enrollment/LPAC testing before the ARD meeting
- Invites LPAC representative to the ARD if appropriate
The ARD committee cannot recommend Bilingual or ESL PK if the student has not been tested by LPAC. Prior to the current school year, LPAC involvement in the ARD for 3 year olds was not a common district practice. However, the current procedure is that the LPAC representatives are invited to all initial ARD meetings when a second language is involved.

Challenge Day Volunteers
Challenge Day is scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2022 from 8:00am-1:00pm at the WWJHS track.
Over the years, several of you have asked if your own children can volunteer at the event. If you would like for your own personal student to volunteer, please email Kalli Wakefield kalliwakefield@tomballisd.net for a permission form.
This form serves to inform you and the campus of the specifics for the event. All questions regarding absences, make-up work, attendance, etc must be directed to your child’s campus principal as he/she has ultimate say in the absence procedure.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Kalli Wakefield with any questions you may have about the event!

TIP OF THE WEEK - How to avoid self-sabotaging' IEP team decisions
"IEP team members may try to avoid conflict with parent sby agreeing to more than is realistic in teh IEP, such as developing more goals than are reasonable for the student to reach in a school year to make up for lost itme. But communicating with parents in the meeting about what is feasible for the district and the child may prevent difficult due process hearings in the future."
