HAPPY 50TH EARTH DAY!

Earth Day 2020

WRAPPING UP THE SCHOOL YEAR

As you know, Governor Lee is recommending all schools now remain closed through the end of the school year. That means our campuses will remain closed, but it does not mean that summer break has started. Our plan is to continue with digital instruction for all students through May 8. From May 11 to May 22, teachers will focus their attention on students who need additional academic support and credit recovery. The last two weeks of school will also be used to “close-out” the year – collect devices and library books, cleanout lockers, and other activities.

Details about retrieving items from your school or returning items will be shared by your classroom teachers and school administrators by Monday, April 27.

GOOD NEWS ....

... for MHS GRADUATES & FAMILIES

The MHS Class of 2020 graduation ceremony will be held on May 29 at 7:30 pm on the Maryville High School football field. While we are committed to a traditional graduation ceremony, we will be adjusting the specifics of this plan based on the most current guidelines from national, state, and local officials at the time of the event.

Adjustments may include limited attendance and social distancing requirements. As you make plans, please keep in mind that attendance could be limited to a maximum of 4 guests per graduate. However, we will be streaming the ceremony for friends and family to enjoy. We will be able to provide you with detailed information regarding any restrictions on May 15.

Cap and gown distribution will take place on Friday, May 15 between 9 am - 11 am. Seniors are asked to pull in front of the gymnasium, and we will deliver caps and gowns to their cars.

Lunch Account Balances

As you may recall, at the end of each school year we automatically roll any remaining lunch balances to the new school year.

Since this process is managed at the district level, funds can easily travel between schools. Therefore, when students advance to a grade that takes them to a new school in our district, the previous years' lunch balance will be available at the new school.

This process is fully automated, so no action is required on your part.

Should questions arise, please feel free to contact our coordinator of school nutrition, Tammy Hooper, at tammy.hooper@maryville-schools.org.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Originally, we hoped to have new kindergarten families pre-register online during April and then attend "Document Day" at their zoned school on May 1. Due to the stay-at-home order, that process is delayed.

At this time, we expect to have all the online tools ready for pre-registration to begin on or around May 6. Upon completing the online information, parents/guardians will follow a process defined at each elementary school to provide the required documentation.

Thank you for your patience as we work through these details. Stay tuned to our websites and social media to follow new developments pertaining to registration for students starting Kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year.
