"Stamina for students is not built giving kids long tests or grueling, boring work! It is built by teachers who every period of every day engage kids in challenging course work relentlessly. Students in high performing schools have no notion of a "free day."
"It is not the "cool" teacher that makes a difference, it is the teacher who has the highest expectations for kids that impacts student growth." - John Wink
Professional Reminders:
Book Study: Teachers I know this is a very busy time, but don't forget to keep up with reading The Book Whisperer! We will revisit and discuss this text in May.
Retention: Teachers, please refrain from discussing retention with parents. If you have a student you feel is a candidate for retention, we need to schedule a meeting in the next couple of weeks to review data and discuss. Please email me.
Spring Cleaning: We will walk through rooms this week and update concerns from the Fire Marshall's last visit.
Warm-up Wednesdays: It's Spring now, so there's no longer a need for warm-ups. :)
Videos: Any movies or videos shown for an earned reward or party day must be approved by Sarah in advance. Any videos being used for educational purposes must be previewed by teacher before showing students, and included in team's lesson plans.
Blooms Planning Chart: Teachers, if you need an additional copy of the Blooms Planning Chart, please email Sarah. Be sure to utilize this chart when you are planning with your team. We must provide rigorous, relevant and high-level lessons/questions for our students.
Student Management: Please be sure we are all modeling positive and supportive interactions with our students, even in challenging situations. All staff members should be utilizing our PBIS to ensure consistent expectations for all students--in classrooms, the cafeteria, hallways, etc. If a situation arises and you need additional support with a student or just a moment to step away, please contact Mary, Darla or an Administrator. Please remember this powerful message:
