Week 6, July 25-31
With Sra. Aguirre
Week 6
We are starting Week 6! Students should be staying on pace with the class as the class closes Friday, August 12 at 11:55pm. That means students have 3 more weeks and only 2 weekends to get those assignments completed! Please encourage students to work continuously to get everything completed by August 12. (We have two more units to cover-Units 7 & 8.)
This week's unit is about Sports and Leisure activities! The assignments below are due this Friday, July 29 @ 11:55pm!
Required Live Classes (RLCs)
Students have 4 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 6/7 this week and 1 opportunity next week.
The end is quickly approaching!
Below is information about the end of our class. I shared this with students today in an announcement! Please let me know if you have any questions or if your student needs help.
- The last day of our class is Friday, August 12 (not Wednesday, August 10).
- You can make up any/ALL assignments until Friday, August 12 @ 11:55pm.
- Please note that ALL assignments have to be turned in Friday, August 12 @ 11:55pm.
- This means that you have 2 more projects to complete: Units 5/6 this week (Friday, July 29), Units 7/8 due Friday-August 12.
- You also have a FINAL EXAM and FINAL PROJECT due on Friday, August 12 @ 11:55pm.
- The FINAL EXAM is about 30 questions and is online - not timed.
- The FINAL PROJECT consists of vocabulary and grammar from units 2-8. (more info to come next week)
- The FINAL EXAM and FINAL PROJECT count 25% of your final grade.
- There can be no extensions to complete assignments as grades have to be turned in almost immediately.
- That leaves you 3 weeks and only 2 weekends to get assignments completed!
- Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
Culture Cafe for Extra Credit for Participation Grade
Students will have the opportunity for another upcoming Culture Cafe on Thursday, July 28 @ 10-11am. Just a reminder that the Participation Grade consists of the Getting Started Audio assignment, eLinguaFolio assignments and the Required Lived Classes.
Does your student need help?
Students are required to attend Required Live Classes throughout the course which is a virtual classroom environment that allows for complete interaction with the teacher and other students. As such, questions are often answered in these sessions. However, if/when a student needs additional help, he/she should first ask me, the teacher. If I'm not available and it's a quick question, he/should should take advantage of the NCVPS Peer Tutoring Center. If more serious content tutoring/remediation is needed, the student/s can request one-on-one tutoring with me and/or a peer tutor. If a student is weary, nervous, and/or conscientious about taking the class online, he/she can request a Virtual Buddy from the NCVPS Peer Tutoring Center for moral support, technical assistance, and more.
Communication is vital!
It's extremely important that you, as the parent and ELA, remind your students to communicate with me, as well as for you to contact me/us yourself. The team between schools/ELAs, parents, students and NCVPS teachers works best when all are on the same page and have effective communication. The best way for ELAs/parents to contact me is via email at beverly.aguirre@ncpublicschools.gov or by phone/text at (336) 242-8088. I appreciate your support!
