Using Mathematical Schemas to Teach Word Problems in Math

Join us as we learn how to use mathematical schemas as a means to best prepare our students for success in solving those ever-dreaded word problems!
We encourage elementary math teachers, learning-support teachers, and math coaches to register for this workshop devoted to using evidence-based strategies recommended by the contributors of the Science of Math!
Workshop Details
Time: 9:00AM to 2:00PM. Lunch (on your own) will be from 11:30-12:30.
Where: Appalachia IU8, Richland Office. Located in the GJCTC at 445 Schoolhouse Rd, Johnstown.
Cost: FREE!
Act 48 approved: 4 hours

Meet your presenter!
Amanda brings 18 years of teaching experience in math classrooms in both the middle & high school level. She also served as her district's Instructional Coach for 5 years before coming to the IU8 in June of 2020.
She currently serves as an Academic MTSS consultant and serves as math lead for the IU8.
