Collins Robotics Teams
Our Collins Robotics teams, the Cargo Cobras and Cobra Connect, competed in the First Lego League District Qualifier on Monday, January 24th. Teams presented their innovative solutions to problems relating to the transportation, sorting and distribution of cargo to the judges via an original skit and PowerPoint presentation. Following their presentations, each team attempted to complete a series of 16 field missions using the custom-built robots they created and programmed. Both teams did an amazing job and received great feedback from the judges!
Cargo Cobras:
- Michael Newcomb
- William Adamas
- Isabella Perry
- Sothun Chhor
- Diya Pillai
Cobra Connect:
- Aarav Varia
- Mischa Jerrard
- Ethan Ronnander

Student Handbook Update:
Parents, please discuss the update to our student handbook with your child below. We are thankful to have student entrepreneurs; selling of products to others should occur off campus to avoid classroom disruptions. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Ms. Aymond & Mrs. McCure Counseling Update
We would like to thank the Collins community for all of the wonderful words and treats for National Counseling Week.
6th grade - Course sheets for Knox are due back February 23.
When working with our students who are experiencing anxiety or stress we emphasize the following:

Nurse Kendall Update:
Please remember students cannot carry medications to school to take “with lunch”, etc. Medications must be checked into the clinic and a parent permission form signed.
THIS INCLUDES COUGH DROPS AND INHALERS.
This is a safety issue - we want to keep the students safe and healthy while at school. Sending medications in a lunch box or their pockets is not safe - if that medication were to fall out and another student takes it, there could be some serious implications. There are children who are allergic to cough drops and certain drugs. Please consider this and contact the clinic if your student needs medication.
Self-Prescreening
Self-Prescreening: To ensure the health and safety of all students and staff, all individuals should conduct self pre-screening for COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals waiting for COVID-19 test results due to symptoms or individuals currently experiencing any of the symptoms listed that are new and/or not normal for them, should stay home and consider seeking medical care and/or COVID-19 testing. Symptoms consistent with COVID-19 include:
fatigue
cough or shortness of breath
sore throat
congestion or runny nose
significant muscle pain or body aches
loss of taste or smell in the last 10 days
diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain
feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0F

Art Update
In Mr. Hunt’s art class, students are wrapping up our sculpture unit. 6th grade is beginning to learn about drawing in perspective while 5th grade will be learning about realism. With Mrs. Ferguson 6th grade is beginning a weaving project and 5th grade is learning how to draw and shade a self-portrait realistically.
