JA in a Day Volunteers

A HUGE Thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped teach during our JA (Junior Achievement) in a Day! The students loved it and our volunteers did a FANTASTIC job. Thank you!

District Volunteer Background Checks

Please remember that the district volunteer background checks need to be completed at least two weeks prior to an event at which you may be volunteering. It takes awhile for the background checks to be completed and cleared, so do them early and do not delay!

CogAT Testing

Second grade students and fifth grade students will take their CogAT Tests the week of October 19-23. A note regarding the tests was sent home in Friday folders last week.

Bullying Awareness Month- October!

October is Bullying Awareness Month: Here are a few activities that are taking place across the district -

  • October 21: "Unity Day" - make it orange and make it end
  • October 27: "Mix It Up at Lunch Day" - ask students to sit with someone new over lunch

GCISD FIRST

GCISD has formed a Facility Innovation and Readiness Stakeholder Team (FIRST) to study and prioritize ways to create the best possible learning environment for GCISD students. This facility planning team comprised of parents, community constituents, and campus and district staff will be brought together to consider the district’s financial position and strategic plan as it relates to programs for students, facilities, infrastructure, technology, security, etc. The membership structure of the FIRST is available under the tab marked TEAM. GCISD has not called a bond election but is researching the possibility of a May 2016 referendum through this process.

This website has been created to inform our community. Frequently asked questions will be updated throughout the process. This site also is a place for community members to submit questions and share thoughts through use of the Let’s Talk button.

GCISD FIRST will keep the district’s mission and goals at the forefront of their discussions, working collectively, Building Excellent Schools Together.

PTA Fall Festival

Fall Festival is next Saturday, October 17, from 2-6 pm! Kids will love the carnival games (laser tag, archery, balloon animals, face painting and cash cube, just to name a few!), while you'll love the Silent Auction. We've got great items up for auction- gift certificates to local businesses, a full set of braces from Shroeder Orthodontics, an Apple sport watch, a signed Tony Romo football and more! You can also buy raffle tickets at the festival for a chance to win great prizes such as tickets to a Cowboys suite at Thanksgiving and a diamond and sapphire pendant valued at $1500! The Silent Auction starts closing down at 5 pm, so bid early and bid often!

SILENT AUCTION SCHEDULE

2:00 pm - Silent Auction Begins

5:00 pm - Class Basket Auction Ends

5:15 pm - Teacher Donations, Flags, Fight Songs and Parking Spot Auctions End

5:30 pm - Auction Closes

Grubbs Infiniti will be there to offer test drives. For every adult that takes a short test drive and a brief survey on an iPad, Grubbs will donate $20 to our school. If you and your spouse take a test drive and each take a survey, that's $40 for the school, for less than 10 minutes of our time. Please take a test drive to help us reach our goal!

Food trucks will be in the parking lot (all trucks will require cash or credit payments), while popcorn, cotton candy and drinks will be sold throughout the festival (these require tickets).

Come enjoy a fun afternoon with your family!
