Week At A Glance

November 23-December 4, 2015

What do YOU believe about learning? How are you tweaking instruction to reflect those beliefs?

Due to security issues, we have reverted back to the original schedule where Door #1 (main) will not unlock until 7am on school days. If you have an early morning group then they will need to enter in Door #2 (cafeteria) which will be unlocked.

Thinking about using Twitter to communicate with parents but don't really know how to get started? See Kim to connect you with someone already using it successfully to keep parents updated about the amazing things happening with your students!

Field Trips

Are there pieces of your curriculum that could benefit from that 'being there' experience? Has your team considered an excursion that would tie into a focus in the classroom?

Remember that you are being encouraged to explore these options as they would benefit your instruction & student learning. In the recent past, we have only participated in the same field trip for an entire grade level. This year, 6th grade has no all-grade level field trip scheduled. How might you and your team use an off-campus learning opportunity to impact? Share your thoughts with Randy and Kim.

The Indiana State Museum offers free admission to students and staff for field trips. Teachers are admitted free all year long with valid school ID. You may view some of their programs at : www.indianamuseum.org/educators/k-12-programs

Counselor Connect

Looking for some assistance with a student concern? Remember that John & Jessica are an amazing front-line resource to brainstorm with and discuss issues that arise. They can discuss issues with you and/or students depending on the need. What valuable assets we are fortunate to have! Take advantage of their talent and willingness to assist. :D

HSE Teaching and Learning...

This week’s blog continues the discussion about anchor texts and touchstone experiences, but it really answers this question: Who is your educational hero?

Jan and Stephanie try to answer that question this week with their entries about Gordon MacKenzie and Lilian Katz. Click here for the link: Hairballs and the Growing Edge

Have a great week, HSE.
