Family Strong
Monday, September 19th
Today was a super hard day that turned into healing and comfort. I am amazed at how quickly our class became a family and super grateful that we have. We needed our family today to accept and process that Darice is no longer with us. We had a wonderful morning meeting with a lot of questions and sadness. However, the laughter of memories and the smiles of special moments with Darice quickly took over.
We created a special scrapbook filled with pictures of Darice and our favorite memories. We will cherish this always.
We also read the book, The Invisible String. It is a story about how we are always connected to our loved ones no matter where they are. We know in our hearts that we are forever connected to Darice. We feel that connection and embrace it. Along with the book, Mrs. Wiliams sent in donuts and milk to help comfort us. We are so appreciative.
We moved our Monday gathering to the afternoon to allow our class time this morning. At the gathering, your students spoke so beautifully about Darice and our love for him. They shared our sadness we are feeling, but we rely on hope to get us through.
I know you were concerned and worried about your kids today, but they really did an amazing job.
Your students are beginning to heal and have really shown great strength during this tough time. I love this family we have and they know they can always talk to me. Anytime they need to talk with me, I told them to let you know that you can call.
