The Nevada Volunteers Youth Council is a youth-driven advisory board comprised of high school students from across the state of Nevada dedicated to fostering community engagement and volunteerism among their peers.

Academic Planning with our Counselors Continues
The counselors have been meeting with our JUNIORS for Academic Planning sessions to ensure that they are on track for graduation. These one-on-one meetings are scheduled during English classes and will continue daily through September 15th.
Starting September 20 - 29, the counselors will hold one-on-one meetings with the SOPHOMORE class during English classes. If a student is absent on the date assigned, their counselor will follow up during one of the available make-up times.

Coronado Celebrates Students Awarded with Academic Honors from College Board National Recognition Programs
Students at Coronado High School earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs celebrate students' hard work in high school and showcase their strong academic performance. The academic honors for rural area, Black, Indigenous, and/or Latino students are an opportunity for students to share their strong academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs that are seeking to recruit diverse talent.

Sign up for the 9/21 ASVAB Test Now
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can point you in the right direction to a satisfying career. Understanding your interests, abilities, and skills will help you to make the best decisions about your FUTURE!
Coronado will host the ASVAB test on September 21st.
The ASVAB can be used for career explorations, military entrance, or ACT/SAT practice testlets. This test is optional and will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis and priority will be given to students seeking military as post secondary goals.
Students need to arrive by 6:45 am and report to the cafeteria for testing.
Students must bring their laptop or Chromebooks fully charged as this will be done electronically. If students do not have their portable device, we will not have Chromebooks on hand and the student will be turned away.
Test Date: Thursday, September 21, 2023
Location: Coronado Cafeteria
Time: 7:00 am - 10:30 am
Attendance will be excused if students attend the day of the event.
Students will need to follow up with teachers to make up any missing assignments as they are still responsible for the work assigned the day of the test.

9/21 College Application & Scholarship Night
Dear Class of 2024 Parents and Students:
We would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in a College Application and Scholarship Night informational session which will be held in person on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 6pm-7pm in the Coronado Theatre.
This presentation will give you an opportunity to review the financial aid process, hear updated information about our local institutions, and learn about local and national scholarships.
During the informational session on September 21st, we will be available to answer questions LIVE.
We encourage all families to attend.
We will also have additional reps from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the University of Nevada Reno, Nevada State University, and the College of Southern Nevada.

CSN ~ Nevada Promise Scholarship
The scholarship application is available to the State of Nevada high school graduating class of 2024.
The Nevada Promise Scholarship is a unique scholarship established by the Nevada Legislature for Nevada high school graduates to attend community college. As a last-dollar scholarship, the Nevada Promise Scholarship can cover up to three years of tuition and other mandatory fees not covered by other gift aid.
If you are part of the graduating class of 2024, make sure to apply during the application period (August through October), and keep current with the ongoing eligibility requirements.
