Raider Update
A Weekly eNewsletter from Hastings Public Schools
Message from the Superintendent
Good afternoon Raider Families,
I hope this Raider Update finds you well. It’s exciting to announce the school board, based on the work of staff, students, and families, has developed and approved a new district mission statement - We Care, We Empower, We Achieve - Students are the heart of all we do. They also approved vision statements, core values, and strategic anchors. Strategic planning documents can be found on our website.
A little over a year ago, I sent you a message outlining the Fall 2021 Safe Learning Plan. While we are in a different situation, the pandemic is clearly not over and will impact how we do schooling this coming year. I am acutely aware of the anxiety our current situation is causing for people. We are continuing to take our guidance from the CDC, MHD, and Dakota County Health experts, and to this point, we have stayed inline with what has been either required or recommended. Our current plan is for all students to be back in buildings five days per week. We will contact-trace based on the requirements from MDH. Only positively infected people will be required to quarantine, we will social distance as practicable, cleaning protocols will continue, and masking is required on all transportation. The school board had a discussion about general masking requirements at the work session this past Wednesday and is expected to make a final decision regarding masking requirements at the August 25th Regular Business meeting.
As we approach the start of school, I encourage you to look at the school calendar for important dates. In the coming days, you can expect to hear from your buildings with more specific information regarding the start of the school year. Additionally, the majority of this Raider Update is filled with topics and information related to our September 8th start date.
I can’t say it enough, thank you for all of your support during this extremely complex time. We are committed to maintaining an appropriate balance between the health and safety of our students, staff, and community AND providing the best learning opportunities possible for ISD 200 students.
Sincerely,
Bob McDowell, Ed.D.

DIGITAL FLYER DELIVERY STARTS AUGUST 19
Exciting news! In an effort to provide increased access to programs and resources that improve the trajectory of our students’ lives, Hastings Public Schools is preparing to launch Peachjar. This new platform will enable us to send important school and community flyers to parents digitally, saving our schools time, money, and paper.
School-approved digital flyers will be sent to your email inbox where you can easily click to sign up for events and programs. No more rifling through binders to find this helpful information.
You’ll receive a welcome email from Peachjar. No action is required to begin receiving this communication from your school.
To ensure you don’t miss notifications, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts and click “always display images” when you receive your first email.
Peachjar is used exclusively for the distribution of school-approved flyers only. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events!
