Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 4 | 12 MAY 2021
It has been a busy start to Term 2 in Pre-Primary. Last week we were shocked to find a wolf hiding in the Early Childhood play area. We also found an old dressing gown and a walking stick. It reminded us of the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. The students have been learning the story and finding evidence and clues that the wolf left behind. We have been enjoying learning about how we can look after our environment. Students are learning to recycle materials such as paper, plastic and food waste.
Prayer to our Lady during the Month of May
Dear Mother Mary,
keep your holy hand upon us;
guard our minds, our hearts and our senses,
that we may never commit sin.
Sanctify our thoughts, affections, words and actions,
so that we may please you and your Jesus,
our God, and reach heaven with you.
Jesus and Mary, give us your blessing.
Amen
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Camp Australia
We are very excited to be partnering with Camp Australia to deliver a before and after school care service for our students. Camp Australia opens its doors in our Tech Hub on Monday 17th May at 6.30am. Camp Australia encourages all families to register for this service even if you don’t intend to send your children to before or after school care. The reason for registering your child nevertheless is that if you are ever running late, with your permission, your child can then easily be booked into Camp Australia to be cared for until you arrive to collect them. Camp Australia will be on site to take care of children until 6pm each evening. You can simply click on this link https://www.campaustralia.com.au/schools/details/D724 to register your child. Camp Australia has spared no expense in setting up our Tech Hub with new equipment for the children. We have a good working relationship with the Regional Manager who will be overseeing the service delivery. Camp Australia are committed to providing high quality before and after school hours service and we trust that this facility will be of great benefit to our families.
Staff Casual Dress Fridays
You will notice that our staff are more casually dressed on Fridays. We have decided to implement a casual Friday initiative for staff in exchange for a donation to a charity. This term we are raising money from our staff casual dress Friday for the Smith Family Foundation.
Tell Them From Me Survey
I would like to thank all families who participated in the Tell Them From Me Survey. We had one in three families complete the survey which is an excellent response. Once we receive the report analysis, we will provide our school community with feedback on the results.
Thank You P&F and Kindy Families
I would like to say a very big thank you to our P&F and the Kindy families who assisted with the Mother’s Day stall last Friday. Our P&F are already planning gifts for next year’s Mother’s Day, as the quality home-made products were a big hit with both the children and their mums. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making these gifts. Your service to our community is truly appreciated.
Confirmation
I ask our school community to please keep those Year 6 students who are making their Confirmation in two weeks’ time, in your prayers. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Confirmation candidates receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which gives them an increased ability to give witness to Christ in every aspect of their lives.
May God Bless You All

School photos are next week, Tuesday 18 May and Wednesday 19 May for Kindy Blue! Every student will receive a personalised order envelope to bring home from Kapture Photography. The recommended method of ordering your photos is online through Kapture’s website as your payment is secure and can be easily verified at any time. If you pay online, there is no need to return the order envelope to school.
KEEP YOUR ORDER ENVELOPE SECURE!
The unique codes contained on the envelope will be issued only once.
Alternatively you can pay by cash and return the provided envelope to the school on the photography day. Please note the photographers cannot provide change.
Order EARLY for sibling photography
Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive your envelope, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.
If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.
The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.
Order EARLY for photo day prices
Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $20 custom service charge.
Other information
Late cash payment envelopes cannot be accepted by the school office or by Kapture.
Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.
Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.
All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.
