Ramsey Families,
We hope you had a restful MEA Break with your families. Once again, thank you to all families who took time to connect with your student's Foundations Teacher or even perhaps other teachers for our Q1 fall conferences. Fall conferences mark halfway through Quarter 1, Quarter 1 ends November 12th.
November 2nd is a Digital/Virtual Learning Day due to Election Day, no students will be coming in-person to school. Students will be learning from home that day, more information coming out in the next newsletter.

Health & Wellness
Vaping: Join us to help educate students on the serious health risks of vaping. From the CDC, "E-cigarettes are the most commonly used tobacco product among U.S. middle and high school students. The use of e-cigarettes is unsafe for kids, teens, and young adults." More vaping resources can be found below or click here.

We want to be done fundraising by November 1st and put 100% of our focus on providing for our Ramsey Community. You can help us make this a reality. We did get a nice bump from our community before the MEA weekend started. However, we have still yet to break the 100 supporter mark. If every family in our Ramsey community shares the link with their friends & families, or takes 1 minute to donate just $1, we will be able to break that 500 supporter goal!.
We thrive when we work together.
Click to Donate
https://www.givemn.org/organization/Ramseymiddle
Help us hit our goal and we promise not to ask you for another penny the rest of the year.
All Donations are Tax Deductible and they allow us to provide:
Counseling and Nursing office Supplies (Tissues, Band-aids, etc...)
Books for the Library
Student Programs (AVID, WEB, Dare 2 Be Real and more)
Field Trips (8th Grade Valley Fair trip, Bus expenses and other participation costs)
Volunteer Background Checks
Community Engagement (Yearbooks, Student T-Shirts, Childcare and Food at PTO Meetings, Staff Appreciation)
Community (Staff, Student and/or Parent) Requests for supplies or events to enrich our students' experiences.
We can not do this without your support.
Our Goals:
500 Total Donations
Average $25/student for the year (< $3 a month for the school year)
Only 1 fundraising campaign (this one) for the entire year!
Every penny helps, there are no minimum donations so please give what you can. If we all participate, we can share the load together.
Tech Time
Hotspots & Internet Access
If you have an SPPS Hotspot at home that was checked out prior to September, 2021, please send it to school with your student to be checked out again. Either the librarian or I can do it quickly and easily. Sometime in November, Hotspots that have not been checked out again will be turned off. We want to support your Internet access at home, but we also want to be sure the Hotspots are still needed. By having everyone who still needs their Hotspot check it out again, we will ensure continued access for those who need it. If you do not have Internet access at home, please review the information at https://bit.ly/homeWiFi. Then you can let me know if a Hotspot or Comcast Internet Essentials is a better choice for your family.
Feel free to contact me with questions: email cara.hagen@spps.org or text (612) 568-2358.
Thank you,
Cara Hagen
COUNSELING CORNER NEWS
Hello families,
This week counselors will be visiting all Science classes to connect with students around Bullying/Cyberbullying Prevention & Intervention. In each class, we will revisit the differences between Rude & Mean vs Bullying behavior. Students will be able to identify key resources in school to support them if they find themselves experiencing incidents of bullying/cyberbullying.
Parents, if your child reports bullying or cyberbullying to you, please reach out to the school counseling team early and often.
Barbie Woodruff, grade 6-8, last name A-L: 651-744-2087 or at barbie.woodruff@spps.org
Ayoub NIgatu, grades 6-8, last name M-Z: 651-793-7377 or at ayoub.nigatu@spps.org
Students & families can also report bullying on the Ramsey webpage (in the student section). The form is called the Listening Locker Bullying Report Form https://forms.gle/9reoNyNa9t9nCggp7
Lastly, for students & families who have other topics they would like to discuss with school counselors, a Counselor Connection form can be submitted via the Ramsey webpage (in the student section). The form is called Connect with the Counselor https://forms.gle/w7dTa3MEGCC47Kmt8

Music - Mr. Tison
As we wrap up the first eighth of the school year, all Band and Orchestra students should finally be coming home with instruments to begin practice. Review Ramsey's music webpage (click here) for ways you can help your scholar succeed with practicing at home.
All families that did not attend conferences for my classes will be receiving a personalized update on their scholar's progress and behavior in music class. Please we watching your emails for this update, and always remember to keep our school updated with your contact information.
Band and Orchestra scholars looking to rent an instrument from the school need to fill out an agreement with the school on respecting the instrument, with it a family member's signature. Please see our webpage or the Schoology course for this form.
Thank you for all that you do to help our year start off successfully!
Mr. Tison
Physical Education Class - Mr. Seeman
Homework - Assessments are on Schoology, these will be completed on the students own time. The assessment is placed into Schoology at the beginning of the unit and they have until the end of the unit to complete the assessment.
