Jockeys are the horseback riders. To be a jockey you have to have a license and you need to be 16 years old. The jockey is not picked by their height, only by their weight. The jockey’s weight is 108-118 pounds. Their height is from 4’10” to 5’6”. The jockey can’t own his own horse.

The Big Race

The excited horses are getting ready for the big race. In the race the jockey wears uniforms, but they each have different colors and numbers. For the horses they wear a saddle and leg warmers. The horses are in the stables. The person behind them locks the door and the racer waits for the gun to go off. When the gun goes off the bleachers start cheering.
