Playground set
By: Clayton Gardner and Devin Head
Problem
We have to design a piece of playground equipment for kids in elementary school.
~Must include 6 play elements
~Must be one solid structure
~Must be safe
Research
When we were younger we liked play sets that looked like small houses, swings, fireman's pole, and rock climbing walls. We had to make a playset that included all of those elements.
Gorilla swing set
This play set had a climbing wall, three slides, a roof and swings.
Adventure tree house
This play set had multiple slides, swings, a roof and monkey bars.
Lighthouse playset
This play set was closed in like a real house, it had a slide and monkey bars also.
Carousel
This the one of the elements that we wanted to put on to our design. The carousel would sit at the top of the tower and the kids would spin it by turning the big wheel in the middle.
Lighthouse playhouse
This tower is closed in like a real house. But it does not have any elements to play on
Tower play set
This play set has a tower and a roof but is not closed in and does not have any play elements.
Possible solutions
Lighthouse design
We decided to use this design for our play set. It is shaped like a light house with a carousel on top, a sliding pole on the inside, a latter on the inside, a slide coming down from the top. swings and monkey bars.
Cube design
This design was a basic design that was made with three cubes put together that kids could go inside and had a climbing wall, swings, monkey bars, and a see-saw.
UFO design
This design was supposed to be like a space-ship that kids could go inside and was attached to swings with monkey bars.
