Understanding Your PSAT/SAT SCORES
How to access student scores through the College Board
STUDENT PORTAL & ACCESSING SCORES
New Users to the College Board
Step 1: Go to the College Board new account website.
Step 2: ** Submit required information to a student create account. College Board ID numbers or College Board Registration numbers will be shared to 8th grade families in mid-December to support accessing scores. For 8th grade parents helping their student create a student account, please note the important information below.
Step 3: Click Next and finalize process
Step 4: Keep password & login in an accessible location
Students will not receive a paper copy of their score report. Students can access their scores in their College Board account. Any impact of PSAT 8.9 scores on Accelerated Placement for incoming 8th graders & current 9th graders will be communicated in mid-December by VHHS.
** We recommend students use their current legal name & gender. Additionally, students should use their personal emails (do not use personal parent emails or Hawthorn 73 emails) to set up an account. Once students leave VHHS if their College Board accounts are listed under a VHHS email students will permanently lose access to their account. VHHS staff cannot reset or look up a student's College Board email, password, or username.

Continued Free Practice for Future PSAT/SAT Tests
- The free platform provided by Khan Academy has thousands of practice problems. Use this short video to help link Khan Academy and your student's College Board account (and prior test scores). This will help in personalized preparation for future PSAT/SAT assessments.
- Additionally, current District 128 students can prepare for the digital testing experience by accessing their Blue Book App in their app kiosk on their school-issued Chromebook. Students should NOT attempt to download the app as it already exists on their school-issued Chromebook.
- Don't forget, watch this short video link which provides an overview of the transition to digital testing and what it will look like on test day for students.
Accelerated Placement Act
Students who score within the ranges shown above will be eligible for Accelerated Placement and automatically enrolled in the next most rigorous course in the corresponding content area. To determine placement in Science, both the ELA and Math scores will be taken into account. Parents and students will have the option to opt out of the next most challenging course as students prioritize balancing their overall schedule.
All 8th-grade through 11th-grade students who meet benchmarks will be automatically enrolled in the next most rigorous course; however, this does not mean, that students who do not meet benchmarks cannot also be enrolled in the next most rigorous course. D128 will also provide parents with the option to enroll their student in coursework that they believe better aligns with their student's postsecondary education or career goals.

2024-2025 Counselor Course Selection Support & Additional Information:
As all prior years, school counselors will be available to help answer questions pertaining to your individual student regarding course registration, elective options, and impact of accelerated placement during course registration season (January & February). Tentatively, District 128 anticipates students' placements to be shared with 8th-11th grade families along with a variety of other resources in December prior to winter break. Counselors will continue to help your student make course decisions and balance their schedule with your student's academic strengths, personal interests/passions, post-secondary goals, and wellbeing in mind.
Several more details will be shared later this fall and during the course registration process to support families and your individual student. As a result of this new law, new school processes are being developed at all area high schools and we will continue to provide information to all VHHS families as it becomes available. We look forward to supporting your student as they prepare for their post-secondary endeavors.
