Tutoring Options
Here at Poway, we are dedicated to helping our students do their best. For any students wishing to get a little boost with their studies, we have quite a few options.
Paid Student Tutors - For a list of students who have been vetted by teachers to be able to tutor in various subjects, please contact johughes@powayusd.com. The students on this list decide where they are willing to tutor and how much they will charge.
Student Tutoring in the Library - As always, the Poway High School Library hosts free student tutoring for most subjects after school Monday through Thursday. The tutors are generally NHS students who tutor for community service credit. For students who take the buses, there are late buses they can use to get home afterward.
Summer School
For students who have attempted a core curriculum class, but received an F, they can sign up to retake the class during Summer School. Summer School is held in 2 sessions:
1st semester: June 20 to July 12, 2019 (Holiday July 4 & 5)
2nd semester: July 15 to August 2, 2019
Time: 8:00 am to 12:15 pm
You can find more information on Summer School on our flyer here.
If you believe your student qualifies for Summer School, please contact their Counselor by April 12th at 3pm to have them added to the list.

Scholarship Info
As always, you can view our latest scholarship information on our website here.
The Partnership for Drug Free Kids
The Partnership for Drug Free Kids provides support and guidance to families struggling with their child’s substance use. This is one of many great online resources to get information on everything from vaping to use of other substances. Below are links to some of the resources available on their site:
https://drugfree.org/parent-blog/the-teen-vaping-trend-what-parents-need-to-know/
With the recent Monitoring the Future Study release indicating that nearly one in three 12th graders reported using a vaping device in the past year, it’s imperative that parents are informed of the potential dangers that can result from vaping.
You can also contact Sharon Struck, CCPS, Student Services Specialist at Poway High, at sstruck@powayusd.com or 858-748- 0245 x5394, for a confidential conversation. We’re here to help.
