First Quarter in Kindergarten

Math Goals
Families, your kindergartners are rocking their math goals! Our grade level goal is that 80% of students will score proficient or advanced on our math assessments. We are scoring well above that! 94% of students are experts at counting 1-10, 96% of us are experts at counting how many are in a group and then writing that number (quantities 1-5) and 82% of us are experts at naming a rectangle, square, and circle, no matter which way its turned (this can be trickier than it sounds!) Many of your kids can work beyond these skills as well and count higher or name additional shapes. What a great foundation to keep building on!
Writing Goals
Your young authors are coming up with some fantastic ideas for writing. When we were looking at the end of the unit writing assessment we noticed several strengths. What really stood out is how strong the students are at coming up with ideas and content for stories that include details about who, where, and what is happening (93% of them!) and orally telling complete and detailed stories about what they have written (95%!). This is such an important language and writing/drawing skill. Our next steps will be transitioning to writing that enhances our drawings and stories.
Attendance Goals
Thank you for having your kids here when they are healthy, bell to bell! Our school wide attendance goal is 96.5% and you all helped us beat that goal--we have an average attendance of 97.46! That is something to celebrate! Kindergarten attendance is so important because there are experiences your kids have every day that can't be made up at home. Thank you for making sure your kids are here every day, start to finish!
