Update From THIS I.F.
THERE ARE NO LIMITS
Thought to Ponder
--Charles Dickens
Ok, so I saw this and thought--I needed this!
Our burdens and stress have been at high levels this last week--remember to think about the light. I spoke last year of the light at TES. Light in the form of laughing teachers and students. Smiles from children as they get off buses and out of cars. A staff who gives 100% and then finds more love, effort and time to give. Sweet colleagues who reach out to others and lift them up with smiles, hugs, and surprises. TES is full of light--may we continue to remember and lift each other with the reminder that there is MORE light than dark!
Thank you for your hard work and efforts. Each child in this building is appreciative and SO am I!

Take time to fill this chart in for your grade level--I need first quarter info (a rough draft) by September 25th. This gives you two weeks so please make sure you include this "to-do" in your grade level planning time.
Curriculum WoWs in the Building!
- Thoughtful planning and problem solving with student with strong emotions that they struggle to maintain and regulate. Thanks for the time you put in to behavior check sheets and check in and outs. Rewards and Consequences paired with consistency and love= regulated students ready to learn.
- Direct Instruction of decoding multi-syllabic words, context clues, and character analysis. Remember that explicitly showing students your expectations helps them to understand what you want them to do.
- Asking a class to pair up with a partner--students scattering until they were in place! AWESOME! Anyone should be able to walk in your room--ask a question and ask students to pair up and discuss--and they should be able to do it! If you are utilizing this daily--this routine and expectation should be in place.
- Routines--I am starting to see routines take shape! Cannot wait until next week with testing complete.
- MClass Testing ALMOST DONE! CBM ALMOST DONE! Thank Goodness! Great job and many thanks to you and your students!!
- Lauren--noticing a need in a student and setting up a conference quickly! Thank you for trying to meet the needs of all students! Be sure to call parents when you see things that do not seem ok or problems arise. Parent contact should be first step in problem solving.
Thankful for each of you!
Weekly Blog
I brought back TES is Light Blog--please take time to read! You each inspire me. YOU ARE light and have the power to share light. Let us light up TES everyday with words and actions that show our students what light really means.
Resources to Follow Up MTSS Training
TES Goals--Plan with these in mind!
- Increase student to student interaction in conversation, summarizing, and discussion of content
- Vocabulary through student talk and rigor of text
- Complexity of Text
- Increase questioning of deep comprehension with all reading groups at each level. Do not wait for a student to be reading on a level for them to answer questions on that level orally.
- Application of phonics to multi-syllabic words in 2-5 and strong emphasis and mastery in K-1
- Growth Mindset and STAMINA
Growth Mindset Resources
Think on this information:
- Family income is a strong predictor of achievement.
- Growth Mindset exhibits a strong relationship with achievement across all socioeconomic levels.
- Lower socioeconomic students are less likely to hold growth mindset than wealthier peers.
Growth Mindset CAN buffer negative effects of poverty on achievement.
