- Was part in the Richmond, Virginia Battle, the Second Battle of Bull Run, and the Battle of Antietam
- He tried to take Abraham Lincoln's job as president and failed, (1864) and was Governor of New Jersey (1878-1881)
- Drove General Lee's Army out of Antietam and then to Appomattox Courthouse where he got captured by Ulysses S. Grant
Legacy
- He has inspired soldiers, and inspired people to take a chance they should take it, because of his loss at Antietam
- We remembered him as the person who helped in the capturing of General Robert E. Lee
- He participated in a lot of well known battles
