Angel's Announce

August 31, 2018

Busy Newsletter

This will be a busy newsletter. Again, if there is anything you would like to see in the newsletter, please let Mr. Steffens know at dsteffens@santoninoregional.org.

If you did not read his recent letter about the direction of your school, you can see it below.

Website

The Santo Nino website will be down Friday afternoon and the rest of the weekend for maintenance. It will be up again on Tuesday afternoon.

Aftercare

Aftercare is being changed a little to provide better security to the school. Beginning September 4th, parents will now go to the cafeteria doors to pick up their children. The doors will remain locked and someone will be at the door to let them in. The staff will then call down to get the child and come to the cafeteria. Parents will need to stay in the cafeteria until their student has arrived.

The aftercare staff will rotate students between their normal classroom and the cafeteria

Enrichment Friday's & Clubs

Starting on Friday, September 14th, we will have enrichment Friday's in the afternoons. This will be on all "Long" Friday's. There will be 2 sessions of enrichment: 1-2, 2-3. The scheduling of the enrichment is still being hammered out, but there will be time for a wide variety of activities.

This will also be the start of Clubs at Santo Nino. Currently, the clubs that are being planned are: Campus Ministry, Robotics, Science, Student Council (Listed as a club so the meetings can be held at that time), Faith Bowl, Speech and Debate, and Yearbook.

The activities that are being planned are: Gardening, Sewing, Art, Chess, and Reading/Literacy.

If a student signs up for a club, they must go to the club meeting. We are trying to schedule it so students can be part of more than 1 club.

There will also be a "homework" time period. Students who have not turned in work during the week or have a zero on an assignment, must go to the "homework" room to complete the assignment. They cannot attend the club or activity until the work is complete.

If you would like to volunteer for one of the activities, teach an activity, or be a club co-sponsor with a teacher, please let Mr. Steffens know.

Logos

Mrs. Feathers and Mr. Steffens have been looking at the logos for Santo Nino. From a marketing standpoint, a school must have 3 different logos to fit different needs. The logos are below. Let Mrs. Feathers know what you think.

A reminder though: Logos are the property of the school and cannot be used without written permission of the principal or rector.

Menus for September can be found below

Parade on September 9th

The student council has decided to use the bus (with a halo on top) for the parade on September 9th. If you would like to help and be part of the parade, let Mrs. Feathers know at afeathers@santoninoregional.org

Fiesta Mass

Fiesta Mass is on September 5th with a school assembly after mass with the Caballeros. Students may wear Fiesta dress (no jeans) or mass uniform this day. Remember, the clothes they wear must be worn all day.

Also, Mr. Taylor Gantt, President of St. Michael's, wrote a wonderful letter to their community. We agree with his sentiments and wanted to share it. It can be read below.

Note from the Development Director

This year has certainly started off with a bang! I spent Tuesday morning watching the children program their robots, talking with teachers about the needs of the upcoming clubs and coordinating new Green school projects- including new rain barrels! I am so excited to be a part of this community and learn more about each event and activity.

I am looking for help...

Every year, the students march in the Santa Fe Fiesta Pet Parade, and we have a float in the Hysterical Historical Parade. I met with the student council, and we have a vision of what they would like to see. I would love some volunteers to help make this come to life. Please let me know if you can help us! We are meeting after school on Thursday, September 6th. PLEASE COME HELP!

We would love to have parents and families marching along with us in the Fiesta Parade. If you are interested, please let me know, and I'll coordinate times to meet and duties.

I want to create a donor database to keep from asking the same establishments for donations. I would love some help entering in donor info from past events.

I will also need volunteers to help contact establishments and pick up items. Please let me know if you are available.

Thank you for a beautiful start and all of your encouragement! I am so happy to be part of this school and looking forward to working with all of you!
