Make a Difference Mondays! Thanks to those who attended NHS Movie Night on Friday. That was a start towards raising funds to supply local kids in foster care with toys and gifts this holiday. See last Friday's enews for a list of toys to donate and earn service hours.
Take Care Tuesdays! Rest is an important part of self-care. Sleep is only one type of rest we need. A specific type of rest we need is sensory rest. Ways to get some critical sensory rest includes silence, closing your eyes, being in nature, turning off all screens and technology, and even eating healthy foods. How about we all take the personal challenge to find at least 30 minutes of sensory rest each day?
Way to Go Wednesdays! Colter & Callahan Kendall volunteered for several days including set-up (starting bright and early at 7am on Saturday) at the Rockin H Ranch Fall Festival/Honor flight fundraiser last weekend. In a message from the organizer, she shared: I just wanted to say that your kids are very respectful, friendly and I enjoyed working with them. Out of all 11 volunteers, there were only 5 that stood out- Colter and Callahan were 2 of them! Way to go to both of you!
Thankful Thursdays! One week from today, Veterans Day will be celebrated. This is a day designated to express our sincere gratitude for our Veterans of all branches of the service who willingly choose to fight for and defend the rights and freedoms and safety of our country. Many have lost their lives defending those who cannot defend themselves. If you know a Veteran, make sure to say “Thank you for your service.”
Fun Fact Fridays! No school! Yay!
Handbook Highlight- Driving
Driving on campus is a privilege, not a right. Safety and courtesy are of paramount concern at all times. In addition to observing all applicable state and local laws students must also adhere to all IRSC regulations related to vehicles on campus and the use of parking lots.
· Vehicles with graffiti and/or writing on windows or body of the vehicle will not be allowed in the Clark or Chastain parking lots.
· Pedestrians always have the right of way.
· Students are not allowed to loiter in the parking lot or remain in cars.
· Students are to obtain permission from the front office to retrieve items from cars during class time.
· The speed limit on campus is 20 mph.
Violation of any vehicle or driving-related laws or policies may result in disciplinary action, including the temporary or permanent revocation of campus driving privileges. Procedures for parking, pick-up, and drop-off are posted on the Clark website under both Student and Parent Login.
Parent/ Guardian Info
Starting in November, many of our classes will be using the 7 Mindsets program to help students master social emotional learning (SEL). A handout for parents introducing the 7 mindsets is attached. More resources will be shared throughout the year, but we are excited to continue working with all of our students and staff to have a mindset for happiness and success in and out of school!
