STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
As we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week, this picture reminds me of the importance of the physical contact our staff has with our students. While under these current circumstances, our entire staff has demonstrated their ability to do whatever is necessary to serve your child best. However, the connection they have when students are present is essential. I believe we have all realized the importance of the human contact we have in schools.
I am very proud of our excellent staff of Franklin Public Schools which includes, teachers, support staff, and administrative staff that work hard every day to ensure that schooling is as much about what children learn as who is there to help them learn. Thank you for what you do to support our caring staff; we sincerely appreciate our wonderfully engaged families.

Our Current Calendar
SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM UPDATE
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and given current federal and state restrictions and recommendations, Franklin Public Schools will not run any in-person Summer Learning Programs (i.e. Summer School) this summer. Our top priority is the health and safety of the participants in our programs and the Governor’s order has closed the school buildings through June 30th.
That said, we are continuing to evaluate potential options related to virtual summer school programming in grades 5K-12. In the model under consideration, 9-12 virtual programming would be for credit recovery, while 5K-8 virtual programming would focus on enrichment. To help with this planning, we will be sending all 5K-8 families a short survey to complete this coming Monday, May 11, to gauge your interest in having your child(ren) participate in any potential virtual enrichment based Summer Learning Program offerings.
Additional information will be provided to all families as we continue to make decisions regarding this programming.
SHOWING FPS APPRECIATION ONLINE
This past week, our district Facebook page released a "photo frame" that visitors could place on their Facebook profile pictures this week. The amount of community members that updated their pictures to show support for all of our FPS staff was amazing! Above is just a small collage of those that added the photo frame.
If you'd like to add the photo frame yourself, visit this post and click try it to add the frame to your picture.
TIME OF CRISIS RESOURCES
Our Student Services team has compiled resources for families that can be helpful during a time of crisis. We are adding these soon to our district website. In the meantime, if you find that you or anyone you know are in need of any help related to general, mental, physical or financial assistance, you can utilize the resources we have compiled here. These times can be difficult and everyone’s circumstances are different. Please ask for help where needed.
FOOD REQUESTS & PICKUP FOR NEXT WEEK MAY 11-15
Please Help Us: Anyone picking up meals, please remember to sign up. This needs to be done weekly. The last two weeks on Monday we served over 50 meals to people who did not sign up. This resulted in people who did sign up having to wait while we made more lunches.
Franklin Public Schools is continuing to offer lunches to children ages 2-18 in the Franklin community who are experiencing hardship and need a meal.
FOOD REQUEST PROCESS FOR NEXT WEEK MAY 11-15
PLEASE COMPLETE this sign up form for May 11-15 as soon as possible, but by Sunday night 5/10 at 10pm at the latest, so we can properly plan for food distribution.
- PICKUP DETAILS: Meals will be distributed at FHS in front of the Saber Center on Mon (Mon & Tues meal), Wed (Wed meal only) & Thurs (Thurs and Friday meals) from 11:30a-12:30p only.
PICKUP PROCESS: We are asking families to pull up to the pickup station, tell the Food Service staff how many meals you need, and then please come up to the table to pick up your meals.
This form can only be filled out once for this one-week cycle. If you have already filled it out and need to make a change, please directly contact Monica Houtler (414-423-4656), our Food Service Director with any questions.
Our Food Service staff is following USDA guidelines for meals, which may include receiving starchy vegetables and legumes. Food Service staff may mix in some heat and serve items as part of the meal; this all depends on the inventory we have available.
